Damon: Maybe Bush twins should go to Iraq (Maybe Damon should go to Iraq)
UPI ^ | 15 Dec 06 | Not Given

Posted on 12/16/2006 11:34:57 AM PST by SkyPilot

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- In an interview in Washington, actor Matt Damon suggested that President George W. Bush's daughters "maybe" should join the military.

Damon and actor Robert De Niro were guests on the MSNBC cable show, "Hardball with Chris Matthews," promoting their upcoming movie, "The Good Shepherd." Directed by De Niro, the film is an account of the early history of the CIA.

During the interview, scheduled to air Monday, Damon talked about the fairness of fighting the war in Iraq with a volunteer Army.

"I don't think that it's fair as I said before, that it seems like we have a fighting class in our country that's comprised of people who have to go for either financial reasons or, I don't think that that is fair," said Damon, 36. "And if you're gonna send people to war ... then that needs to be shared by everybody, you know, and if the president has daughters who are of age then maybe they should go too."

The president's daughters -- Jenna and Barbara Bush -- are 25.

I liked the Jason Bourne movies, but this guy is a just a typical Hollywood Millionaire jerk.

First of all, he insults our troops, yet again, with the John Francois Kerry smear: "All out troops are too stupid and uneducated to do anything else" crappola.

Then he tries to hide behind the skirts of women.

Hey Mr. Secret Agent Tough Guy Wannabe - why don't you go out and serve this great nation?

The closest he ever got to our nation's uniform was when he was given one from the wardrobe department in a movie. Oh, and he got paid a few million dollars to wear it for a few weeks while pretending to be a real soldier.

Pathetic.

The truth is, he is a miserable excuse for a man, and he attacks two innocent young women in order to spew his hatred and his cowardice.

He'll volunteer to go to Darfur I'm sure. After all, that's a good thing we could do per the liberals and "one we can win" according to Clooney. So, as soon as the UN gives the go ahead and Oprah gives her consent he'll sign up. I'm sure of it.

Have to wonder about "tough guys" who pretend at being a secret agent yet slur and slander this country at the same time.

If he wasn't an actor, he'd probably be one of those guys who you meet in bars who lie about being Navy Seals.

"I don't think that it's fair as I said before, that it seems like we have a fighting class in our country that's comprised of people who have to go for either financial reasons or, I don't think that that is fair," said Damon

Damon took a little from Kerry, a little from Rangel, and added a healthy dose of his own stupidity and incoherence.

Interesting how the liberals trumpet this now, but many were OK with people avoiding a previous war by going to Canada.

Hwy Matty!. How would you like to compare the percentages of actors who have higher educations vs the enlisteds? For that matter compare how many actors are even literate at all compared to the enlisteds.

The Hollywood Idiotfada don't even have to pick up nasty weapons. They can go serve in Darfur as human shields.

You would think that sooner or later, one of these Hollyweird morons would learn there hasn't been a draft in 33 years.

Instead of honoring those that VOLUNTEER to serve and protect, they ridicule those that do.

The last movie I saw in a theater was "Life of Brian." The last recorded movie was "Falling Down".

Not a great fan of these worthless clowns. Never heard of Mr. Damon.

A cursory search reveals that he is a "caring liberal." Wants to bring clean water to Africa, etc. etc. Cares about the poor here. To wit, NY Times: "Several hundred students and supporters, including actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, stage demonstration on Harvard University campus to denounce university's long-awaited report on how it will improve compensation for its lowest-paid employees" May 7, 2000

Is it mean-spirited of me to say: "The Bush girls should join the 'fighting class?'eh Mr. Damon. Why don't you join the sincere class. Mr. Damon? Why don't you share your surplus dollars with the poor?"

You know what gets me about these a-holes who throw out the, "The Bush Twins should enlist" crapola? They seem to forget, or not even realize, that our armed forces are VOLUNTARY.

Instead, they imply that Dubya is forcing these "poor, uneducated minorities and poor people" to go die for their country, while keeping their own children safe and sound. This isn't the movie Dragonslayer, and the evil King isn't keeping his own daughter out of the lottery. If the Bush girls wanted to enlist, they could. Why doesn't Damon enlist. Don't they have that Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy just for him?

I agree, Damon is a loudmouth idiot. He and his ilk would not have the spine to defent their own country after it was attacked. They don't have the foresight to see when danger is growing. They would complain and prevent any action up to the moment a nukes blew up half the country then in the next breath complain that Bush let it happen or made it happen.

The only way the hollywood left would ever change is if Hollywood, Aspen, and all of their work and party spots were blown up by terrorists. When the Twin Towers and the Pentagon were attacked they were not personally affected thus it probably was not seen as a real event to them.

The 9-11 attacks had happened on the eve of the MTV Music Awards. All the glitteratti were there.

Wonder if Ward Churchhill would've called all of them "Little Eichmanns" who deserved what they got "for poisoning the world" and turning obedient muslims against the Great Satan.

Clooney is a boob. My father was at the UN as a guest on Friday and he actually saw Clooney in the dining room. And no, my father does not work for the UN .. he was just a quest that was invited there for lunch. He personally thinks the UN is a useless tax sucking pit and should be ended.

We should all sned all the Hollywooders over to Dafur on a 1 way ticket!

Myspace.com (which people laugingingly call "conservative" now that it is owned by Newscorp) ran a big fundraiser for Darfur (ironically they had Insane Clown Possee perform, ironic since at least one, if not more, Juggalo Clown Possee dumbasses have gone on murder sprees that were tracked by their friends' comments on Myspace).

ANYHOW, the liberal entertainment industry IS rallying behind doing "something" in Darfur. I'm up for fundraisers for one way tickets to serve as human shields for any entertainer who'll "stay until the job is done".

A variant of the most despicable Liberal fallacy.
Either you have to have served or your offspring need to serve or else you are unable to speak truthfully about any military matter.

The obvious fact is you could be a Medal of Honor recipient you son could be recovering at Walter Reed any your daughter a medic in Iraq and you still could say stupid illogical and ridiculous things about a given military situation on the other hand you could be a draft dodger, heavily invested in defense related stocks whose kid is fighting with the Taliban and still make insightful wise truthful remarks about military matters
