MEA CULPA

Posted on 12/12/2006 5:23:02 AM PST by 7thson

I would like to say I am sorry for the recent remarks I have made concerning President Bush. I was immature and have not responded well to the recent election. I was especially upset when Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld resigned the day after the election. I still think it could have been handled better. However, when I watched his Townhall meeting last Friday with the Pentagon troops, I came to some conclusions. Rummy did not appear or sound bitter. I realized this man has been around the Washington scene for so long, he knows how the game is played.

There are still a few things about President Bush that irks me. But hey - I voted for him twice and I knew what I was getting. I sincerely believe he is a good man who is trying to do the best he can. I do not believe I have told any lies about him - as some has claimed and have yet to answer me as to what my lies were - but I was venting my frustration and went too far. I acted like a liberal - expressing my feelings vice thinking about it!

Anyway, I again apologize for my recent remarks and will attempt to think before I type in the future. Before I go, I want to go on record as saying Secretary Rumsfeld is a great man and a patriot. If he had died before he ever became SECDEF - the first time - he still would have done more for this country than all the silly pundits and reporters combined. I am anxiously awaiting his memoirs.

Well hey, I don't know what you said, but good on ya for apologizing.

On an unrelated note, an associate of my wife has that tattooed on her forearm. Makes me sad, really.

Well done!

I am looking forward to his memoirs as well.

I no longer buy political books, but that one will be a historical book, not political.

No matter what they ever say about Rummy, McNAMera has more blood on his hands than all the ones since him combined........

On an unrelated note, some political books I do buy and others I do not. I bought Mike Gallagher's book though I have yet to read it. Than yesterday morning, I read what he said about Obama and it made me want to puke. Some of these talking heads have no clue. My two favorites are Rush and Mark Levin, because they are informative as well as entertaining.

I didn't see what you said, but this is a very nice post. :) It's refreshingly polite.

She has "Mea Culpa" tattoed on her body? That is sad. :(

(btw at first I thought she had "good on ya for apologizing" tattoed on her arm, LOL!)

I missed your post but you're a good man for apologizing. I think the president and SECDEF are both great men and I look forward to their memoirs as well. Thanks, for your service, Shipmate!

We are all frustrated by the results of the election. It is understandable.

It takes character to accept responsibility for one's actions...character and courage. You have my respect.

I know President Bush will not do it, but I would like to see him rip the press, Dems, and all leftist defeatists a new one when he gives his farewell address in Jan 09.

Lol! Yeah, I pointed it out one time and commented that nothing could possibly be always her fault. Now I just call her Mea Culpa when I see her.

Terribly formed sentence. Five points from Gryffindor.

More likely, she could not be responsible for all ills that befall her.

I have a book at home (I'm at work) that gives insights as to how the WhiteHouse works - under any administration.
It says it is traditional for cabinet members to offer their resignation every year. It is at that point that the President can either (and usually does) deny the offer or accept it.
Of course, you can't believe everything you read. And in this case the timing is suspect, also.

And those that befall others--it almost sounds like she's apologizing for being alive, and that is sad.

Precisely, she has that sort of mentality, I really feel for her.

I realized this man has been around the Washington scene for so long, he knows how the game is played.

Is that all it is now? A game?

I don't know what you said but Bush, in my eyes, has been nothing more than mediocre.

Without 9-11 I shudder to think how far his "compassionate conservative" ideas would have taken us toward socialism.

I have had a problem with who he has surrounded himself with in his administration. For the most part they have been retreads from his father's and Reagan's administrations. How does that attract young, budding conservatives? The old guy network is dying and where are the replacements? His penchant for nepotism has really turned me off.

I was hoping he would start after his reelection, because his "new tone" got him nowhere in the first term. He should pull no punches. Oh well. Have a great day. Very big of you to post this thread.

There was a lot of venting going on here after the election. Don't give it another thought, we've got too much work to do before '08.
