Right, The myth was that France was antiGerman. But most French were content with Nazi occupation . Their Truppen got along as well with French girls as did American GI's after the war.

This gaffe not only indicates she's loony left, it also indicates she isn't very bright.
I've had the sense that she's an empty suit for quite some time. It will be interesting to see if France embarks on a path of change, or if they decide to elect Royal and try to get as much out of socialism as possible before the fifth republic collapes.

Good point. Our casulaties in two days were as heavy as those in six weeks in Irag in 2003. Incidentally, that shows how much more efficient our troops are today.

>> Why don't the people of France who lived during the Nazi occupation, you know, the ones ... WE LIBERATED! ... come out and call this woman an idiot? GOOD GRIEF! <<
We "liberated" France like Sir Galahad was "rescued" from the scores of naughty nuns in Monty Python's Holy Grail.

I just watched a 2 hour program with Arlette Chabot that had Nicholas Sarkozy as the guest. He was questioned by different French citizens, then by an economist, an expert on immigration, and expert on juvenile crime. He is remarkably competent, and very very tough. France has an opportunity to save itself before the hourglass runs down.
He understands the French character, the good and the bad, and understands that Socialism is the cause of many of France's problems of unemployment, lack of initiative, lack of growth etc. He understands that a free market capitalist economy is the only answer.
Will they listen? I have heard rumors that Sidney Blumenthal and other Clintonoids are over in France helping the Socialist candidate, Segolene Royal.

My point was simply that the kiss was no abberation. It was from the heart.
Much as bubba's infatuation with Arafart was from the heart.
The Liberal Jewish community seems to have lost it's soul, if they ever had a soul.

Evidently the definition of statesmanship is to call other world leaders insane.
And our media decries the statesmanship of OUR President?

The Klinton's are dangerous to civilization and yet there are those who would live in denial making it more and more likely we will be attacked again.

"In a 20-minute tirade Mr Ammar attacked unlimited American insanity for sending troops into Afghanistan and Iraq." France was too busy making back-door oil deals with Saddam.
"He then said that Israeli Nazism was no better than Hitlers Third Reich."
What a Vichy clone!

She is definitely not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. She will rely on (what she thinks are) her good looks to get her elected.

Isn't this kind of thing good for a twenty point bounce up in France?

Ms Royal went on to claim that she had not meant to attack Americans in general for insanity but only the Bush Administration over the war in Iraq.
I don't get how that helps her with French voters.
I like her blame-the-translator thing.
Criticism from the cabinet seems very political. She'd better stop counting on some promenade to the coronation.

For what seems like the thousandth time on FreeRepublic, that's a fricken myth. It hurt her a lot. So much that she should have lost.
She would have lost if we'd had a credible candidate.

The media did a number on poor Rick Lazio. Particularly a very unfair attack resulting from an occurrence at a debate.
Still, and incomprehensible to me to this day, Lazio, a personable and experienced Congressman, did not get the group that should have been easily his- White Catholics.

Yes, the French are pathetic fighters but before they surrender you must at least send in a troop of boy scouts to march under the Arc de Triomphe.
Apparently Israel underestimated the French and only sent 5 girl scouts. It was a close battle but the French managed to defeat them by offering them chocolate filled croissants.

At this rate Sarkozy might have to runoff against LePen instead of Royal.
LePen coming in 2nd in 2002 was hilarious. The guy is one step from being a Nazi and still ended up in the runoff against Chiraq. If you ever need to make a Frenchman shut up about politics, just bring up that fiasco. They are still embarassed about it, and they should be.
To: MadIvan
this woman should be forced to watch The Sorry and the Pity to see how few of her fellow Frenchmen stood up to the Nazis. They really are a nation of cravenness and stinky cheese.
