And if that doesn't work, the sound of it being fired indoors can induce loss of bladder and bowel control if the target isn't hit as was the case in the above article.
definitely.
I am not a fan of the "the rack sound will scare them' theory. If the weapon is for self defense it should be ready to shoot (ie one in the chamber).
.....There was a home invasion .....
It was not really a home invasion, it was a businesss invasion. Moral, don't do dope from home.
Good point, and thank you for the reality check ...
Still, my Benelli M1 has never choked on me, but I did short stroke my Winchester, once. Put it out of action. Lesson 1: Have a backup weapon. Lesson 2: Go for the backup weapon right away. Clear the Winchester when things quiet down.
If the Benelli ever does choke, I know what to do. Should practice it more often.
I like my 410 snake-eyes double barrel pistol. Technically it is a .45 Colt because those rounds also work but as a 410 it is great at close rang and you ain't gonna miss. I use it as a snake gun on my property out of town. An itty bitty baby cottonmouth is just as poisonous as an adult and a lot harder to hit with a .22 or .30-30 but I just point my snake-eyes at the ground in the general direction and wipe out everything in a 2x3 foot oval.It is a good bedside piece.
So Arlen Specter is for it?
Ping for future gun research.
Thanks!
I watched it work one night. A neighbor's house was being repeatedly pelted with rocks by a group of teenage punks. The owner finally stood on his back porch on the other side from the action and pumped his Mossberg. The tough guys scattered and did not come back into the neighborhood for the next 14 months that I lived there.
LOL!
I've seen those things before. As a matter of fact a guy at the range had one for sale last weekend (I didn't ask the price). It seemed to have awfully small grips, almost like a derringer. It was about 16 inches long overall.
That also goes without saying. Perhaps the assailant is deaf and doesn't hear the action. I did have a pair of deaf cousins try to come through a window one night thirty couple years ago and had a hard time getting their attention so that they would know that I was holding a large machete. They finally saw it when I threw a book at the one in the window and hit him in the back. They disappeared poof! I used to like big blades for home defense but these days the thug coming into your house at 0300 maybe has a gun. It wasn't always so.
My sake-eyes is 5 inches long. The end of the shotshell is close enough to the end of the barrel that you can dip the tip of your finger into the barrel and feel it a quarter of an inch down. That derringer style handgrip means it is going to hurt your hand when you shoot. My daughter tried it once with both hands and wound up stumbling a step backwards with snake-eyes straightarmed above her head pointing at a cloud. It is not a shotgun because that wold be illegal. It is a .45 Colt that just happens to be able to chamber a 410. I have seen a revolver set up the same way with a 6 hole cylinder, the most ungainly looking handgun I have ever seen.
Yep, saw one of those my self (expensive thing). I guess if you spend a lot of time in 'snake country' it would be a good defense against Mr No-Shoulders but other than that it seems pretty useless. In your case where you have the SxS in your pocket it seems a reasonable thing, also might be good around here (FL) when you go fishing for snakes and gators.
Wow. That one looks positively sleek compared with the one I saw years ago at a gun show. That one had the small derringer shaped grip and almost no barrel.
Yeah, these do not resemble the one at the range. It was a SxS.
