I dont have to.

Cuban immigrants are by law Legal once they set foot in America.

If they are caught by the coast guard in the sea they are sent back.

But once they set foot on American soil, they are legal as per US immigration law.

So simply put there technically one cannot be a Cuban illegal immigrant in the US.

I think the original attack by Tancredo has to do with his statement ''the nature of America can be changed by uncontrolled immigration,'' .

So it meant that he was referring to illegal immigration or unless he was referring to all immigration - both legal and illegal.

What does legal or not have to do with the lack of English in America?

You do know that Jeb's wife, the mother of his children, was born in Mexico, of Mexican parentage, don't you? It is likely that the Governor makes a sharp distinction between legal and illegal immigrants.

Bush said Miami is “ home to the best advanced placement programs in the country.

HS Graduation rates put FL between 45 and 50 depending on which studies are used.
Miami-Dade has the second lowest graduation rate in the state. Source

Tancredo is a good spokesperson for his idiotic alarmist cause. He obviously hates latino culture since he thinks everywhere that Spanish is spoken is a thrid world country.

Tancredo could have picked a better example, like la ciudad de Los Angeles.

Nobody would have complained because nobody there speaks English anymore, except for Maxine Waters, who can't read.

Pure ignorance. Gotta be in the running for the most asinine post on FR for all of 2006. As an FR poll question from earlier this year shows, 83.5% of FReepers agree with Cong Tancredo.

Free Republic Opinion Poll: Do you support or oppose H.R. 4437, the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005?

Composite Opinion
Support 82.4% 3,369
Oppose 17.6% 719
100.0% 4,088
Member Opinion

Oppose 16.5% 314
100.0% 1,904
Non-Member Opinion

For some reason there has been an enormous backlash against Tancredo on FR lately.

Because he's been taking pages from the Pat Buchanan playbook.

It might be that the Bushes not only tolerate but prefer Christian immigrants to what's been migrating to Europe. Mexicans and Cubans aren't bloodly likely to destroy nearly as much U. S. culture as our new house and senate majorities. And, btw, the demise of English and the growth of dual language accommodations can be laid at their feet as well.

''the nature of America can be changed by uncontrolled immigration''

Nothing wrong with that statement. Deciding who comes in and how many is a basic immigration plan.

"Tancredo is a good spokesperson for his idiotic alarmist cause."

Welcome to FreeRepublic.

You'll find that Tancredo's position on immigration is the majority one here, FreeRepublic poll after FreeRepublic poll shows this, and calling it "idiotic" probably won't go over well.

And what is your opinion?

Cubans are the solid citizens in Miami. Try Haitians and people from all over Central and South America. They make wonderful music there, though.

So Tancredo is now against all immigrants - even legal? I thought his priority was curbing illegal immigration and fighting for border security.
