I'm shocked that there are enough women in a fire department that somebody *can* discriminate between lesbians and straights.

I remember when having ONE female firefighter was enough of a novelty. Or is it that the men go out and put their lives at risk while the women stay behind and do the desk jobs?

In DC we found the women sometimes gravitating toward desk jobs. One woman in perticular was a secretary at the Fire Chiefs office, she applied and was accepted as a Firefighter went thru training school, then returned to her secretary job with a significant pay raie.

Some of the women went into Fire Company's and did the best they were able to do , worked hard, got promoted. There is no general Statement that applies to all.
I can say that some women were better than some of the men we had,but not many. What I wil say is that when it comes to hiring the fire department has to be selective and pick women who are strong big and can hold up under rough use.
Dykes? Well they fit the mold, but again not all were, some were just tough women and many of these enjoyed a "healthy' sex life. Blushing bride type women wont cut it in the Fire Department.
