Famed writer Dominick Dunne can't stop blabbing about Gary Condit, the ex-California congressman who was forced to fend off claims that he withheld information from authorities about the slaying of Washington intern Chandra Levy. , claiming the Vanity Fair correspondent caused him to suffer "public hatred, contempt and ridicule" as a result of comments Dunne made on CNN's "Larry King Live" on Nov. 16, 2005.
Eight months after publicly apologizing to Condit, Dunne told the show's fill-in host Bob Costas: "I think [Condit] knows more about what did happen than he has ever said."
Condit's asking for more than $75,000 in compensatory damages and unspecified punitive damages. The new lawsuit cites the CNN interview and also quotes Dunne as saying that Condit "knew that Levy was going to be killed."
Condit and Dunne settled the first $11 million defamation suit in March 2005 for an unspecified amount of money and an admission by Dunne that he did not intend to imply that Condit was "complicit in [Levy's] disappearance."
Levy's remains were found in a Washington park in May 2002. Her killer has not been found. Condit has said he and Levy were friends.
After leaving Congress in 2003, Condit moved to Arizona, where for a time he and his family were reportedly running a Baskin-Robbins ice cream store.

Does he really want to do this again? Wouldn't he be subject to questioning about his involvment with Ms. Levy under oath? As far as the ice cream franchise goes, I'm not against denying the man a living. However, is it wise to have him in another position where he has young ladies working under him?
I guess it could be worse. He could have bought a Coldstone. I find their ice cream overpriced and disappointing. The staff singing is also very annoying.
Cant we just agree he had SOMETHING to do with it until more evidence surfaces????
It didn't look good at all. The interview with Connie Chung was an absolute joke. Once 9/11 happened, we had other priorities besides Condit and shark attacks. Once he lost his primary, he was pushed further away from scrutiny. My guess is he'll push for another settlement to avoid discussing it.
Condit again charges author with defamation over Levy.
pinging a few cohorts
I am just suprised he's putting himself in a position where he may have to testify about his involvement with Chandra. No doubt he's fishing for a settlement.
He must be running low on cash. Methinks the first settlement didn't amount to much.
If the case doesn't get thrown out as frivolous, Dunne should let if run through the courts and get him on record of his involvement once and for all.
Thanks for the ping.
Ah, my flyer. Fond memories.
But sadly, still no justice for Chandra Levy.
