A company boss insulted a manager over her decision to convert to Islam, an industrial tribunal has heard.
Caroline Elgedawy was allegedly humiliated in front of other directors from Lincoln-based property firm Hanover Park Commercial.
The tribunal heard that chief executive Andy Halstead became abusive over her decision to eat only halal meat.
Mr Halstead told the Nottingham tribunal he did not make the comments at a company Christmas party.
Mrs Elgedawy, 32, who earned £52,000-a-year as head of business information and strategy at the firm, converted to Islam after marrying her Egyptian husband Reda, the tribunal heard.
Abusive outburst
Sitting with managers at the directors' table, Mr Halstead is alleged to have become abusive in describing her eating Halal meat as "pathetic".
He is then alleged to have said that fewer British Muslims were needed not more.
"I was totally disgusted by his behaviour. He had completely humiliated me," Mrs Elgedawy told the hearing.
She told the tribunal she felt bullied by colleagues after she made an official complaint.
She claimed bonuses due to her were not paid in full and the use of a company pool car was withdrawn.
Mrs Elgedawy claimed her salary was cut back to £40,000 when she told bosses she would no longer be able to work the unpaid overtime she had previously.
The company denies the allegations.
The hearing continues.
Guess it wasn't 'unpaid' then.
Her submission to islam and her muslim husband is okay, but she'll be damned if she's going to submit to some lousy infidel humiliating her. She's mad and she's not going to take it anymore...except from her husband and every other muslim male.
Lawsuits are the Islam way. Sue people in to submission. When that doesnt work, cut off their heads!
Sounds quite a bit like Mrs Elgedawy converted to Islam for the purpose of becoming a whiney victim.

We know very well which way the hearing will go in this age of political correctness.
The best the company can hope for is a judgment of a couple of years' salary and the right to fire her. But they may very well get stuck with her for life. Next thing she'll be wearing a hijab to work, no doubt.

Thats a weird insult. Sure you can make fun of her for converting but pathetic for eating Halal meat?? Maybe their is more to the insult than what is posted here. Her boss needs a comedy writer to come up with better insults.

Really. I mean, this is nothing compared to what awaits her in Eqypt where she'll be beaten and treated as property.
She won't even make a decent out-of-profile suicide bomber with that attitude.
With all of the Islamic slurs that have been thrown around in the last 5 years, it's hard to see why anyone would feel particularly insulted over this. And to all Muslims, may I suggest: Get used to it.

Since she has converted to Islam and will only eat "halal" meat, there are a couple of questions I have:
1. Why is she working in the company of men?
2. What was she doing at a company Christmas party?

Explain to her husband that the extra 12,000 pounds wasn't for unpaid overtime, it was because she agreed to work topless after hours.
I wonder what she expects her pay to be when she's forced to stay at home under a burkah, barefoot and cooking halal meat on a dirty stove? You think she'll complain then?

Just open up a new division in...Saudi Arabia and send her out there where she will be more comfortable.
