INDIA renewed a high security alert at its airports following a warning that the al-Qaeda terror network could try and hijack US-bound passenger flights.
“We sounded an alert after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) forwarded an email that spoke of the possibility of an al-Qaeda attempt to hijack US-bound flights from India,” a home ministry official said.
The official, who did not wanted to be named, said the email written by an “unknown entity” appeared to have originated from India and was received by the FBI Saturday at its headquarters in the US.
“While the 'target' was US-bound flights, the nature of threat mentioned in the email was 'hijacking”', he said.

Clearly the FBI considers this a credible threat, because they not only issued an alert ( which I haven't even heard about), but RENEWED it.
Probably - over a cup of cammomile tea.
An airliner from India has zero fuel onboard after leaving Narita and ariving in LA or Minneapolis not much of a threat either way.
Terrorists don't "try AND hijack," they "try TO hijack."

I flew Tokyo to MSP a few times, and that is a brutal flight. I just couldn't imagine starting out in India beforehand.

Oh great. The grammar police. This article is about someone wanting to rain death and destruction down on a heavily populated area--and all some people can think about is if it's stated properly.
It's also one of my pet peeves. I have too many pet peeves, actually. And sadly, I'm raising grammar Nazis. This morning in church, the pastor said, "...to you and I" and my son whipped his head around to give me the "look." I ignored him, but knew that it was my fault that he has become like this. :-)

What is amazing is that there are several articles about this in the foreign press, so it's validated, but NOTHING on CNN or FoxNews. I looked through the related articles found by Google News, and even though this is an AP report, it's not on any of the US newspapers or news stations websites.
One would think people would be interested in terrorists hijacking planes headed to the US.
Just the way the plot discovered in the UK got virtually no mention in the US, it was a couple of days of news cycle, the Foley scandal was much more important to our national interest, based on the MSM coverage.

She doesn't plan to deal with it. They will let it happen and mark it up as another failure of Bush.

Someone posted on another thread re this threat that FOX had mentioned it yesterday. I haven't had FOX or any other news on since last Tues night. But I get FOX News Alerts emails and nothing came up. I guess Britney's divorce is better fodder for the masses.

Amen! We've become shock proof when the idea of loosing 300 lives doesn't make us shudder in horror!! One innocent life lost is too many.
We can only pray that the da#@ demos wake up when they see what the Pres. and his staff have been dealing with while they've been shooting off their mouths, safe in their own little world. It is frightening to see how far they will go, and have gone, for "the party" instead of the safety of this nation and our troops that are protecting their butts!!

The terrorists are less likely to attack the U.S. from now until the 2008 presidential election, because an attack here would strengthen President Bush and conservatives in general. The terrorists want a Democrat to gain the White House, because they know that would lead to the weakening of U.S. military defense.

Perhaps a jetliner filled with civilians has more value to a jihadi than just its fuel payload.
Don't always assume the next plot is going to be just like the last plot.
