To tell you the truth, that election is a long way off and I'm done with campaigns for a while.
What about Democrat Zigler (Ziegler? the old guy from Georgia) vs. a New Englander Republican who isn't very conservative? In rare (rare) cases, a Democrat can be more conservative than a Republican.
For a great post about Rudy see this:

With Rudy Giuliani, most Democrats ARE more conservative on social issues.
What's that? (The FR lexicon should be updated).
I am progun and anti abortion, there is no difference betwee Hitlery adn Rudy on these 2 very important issues I care about. So I will go third party.
Uh Oh.
If enough people thing like you, then get used to the words "President Hillary Clinton."
Those who think Rudy Giuliani is above corruption might want to read this from the upcoming Forbes article, being published on November 13, 2006 (next week).

Your sister sounds like a typical "devout Democrat." She thinks he walks on water, but she probably can't cite a single issue on which she agrees with him -- mainly because she has no idea where he stands on anything.
" Nobody's going to steal your guns".
Duncan Hunter is attempting to take one of the islands in the Channel Islands National Park (Santa Rosa) and turn it into a limited access hunting area. I like hunting, that's not the problem. It's the special access stuff that drives me up the wall. If it's a lottery, so be it, but no special access for disabled veterans, etc. No preferences.
There are millions who will go third party, rather than be forced to choose between a liberal Democrat and a liberal Republican.
There's no need for personal attacks.
Baloney. Rudy Giuliani's one contribution to the "Iraq war" -- at a time when he didn't have to take any political flak for anything -- was to recommend his crooked right-hand man Bernie Kerik to serve as some kind of "security consultant" in Baghdad (a position he held for only a few months before he was cut loose). He then recommended this same crooked b@stard to the Bush administration for the post of Homeland Security Director.
. . . despite his more liberal views on social issues, he would govern "from the right" if elected.
You have absolutely no evidence of that.
It won't take much effort, and it sure won't be "nasty politics" at all -- because Giuliani's record as an elected official stands on its own and is subject to endless scrutiny already.
Dear Labyrinthos,
LOL. Insults are certainly the way to win friends and influence people. ;-)
If Mr. Giuliani wins the Republican nomination, then no matter what, a liberal Democrat will be elected to the presidency, whether that individual has a "D" on his/her back, or an "R."
For social conservatives, the election is over if Mr. Giuliani were to win the Republican nomination. We would have already lost. Forgive us if we decline to lie down passively in the metaphorical mass political grave dug for us by country club RINOs and their ilk.

I don't agree with his stand on many social issues, but he has pledged to appoint strict constructionist judges, and that is good enough for me. If he runs, I think we win in a Reaganesque blow out.
