Ring, ring, ring.... Click Hello, you've reached the voice mailbox of Sen. Barak Obama, junior senator from the State of Illinois. Please leave your name and number as well as your reason for calling and I'll return your call as soon as possible.
BEEP
Hi, Sen. Obama, this is history calling. How are you doing? Please give me a call when you've actually accomplished something of note. No hurry, I'm in the book. Thanks, bye.

I'm watching Nightline's Terry Moran now with his collagen lips all over Obama's bottom. Moran also repeated that carpola about the RNC's anti-Ford ad as "preying on old fears." Before Ford's recent 'I love Jesus!' church appearance, we see Ford being counseled by Obama with Moran standing in the background. Nope, no media bias there.

"Black folks have seen black candidates used by white power brokers before. Several harked back to the excitement of the 1988 candidacy of Jesse Jackson, when he won 11 primaries and, for a short time, was actually the front-runner in delegates for the Democratic nomination. Jackson was obviously far too exciting for the Democratic Party."
So THAT was it! Je$$e Jack$on was too EXCITING! Always wondered why he wasn't picked... /s

To me it was a way of providing Obama with a spacious $2.5 million mansion for $1.6 million, with no neighbor on the subdivided lot. But unless there's some illegality involved, and there doesn't seem to be, I don't think it's a political issue a year from now, certainly not a national issue.

And Obama doesn't strike me as the kinda guy who'd let ethical considerations stand in the way of something he wants. This is just one instance of it. There is and will be more. That'll be an issue for folks who still think character counts.

It is sleazy. One thing he has going for him is his short stint in elected office. He hasn't had much time to build a record. He's an attractive candidate, the one unknown is his performance under pressure. He wasn't challenged in his Senate run.
