"Recruits have a higher percent¬age of high school graduates and representation from Southern and rural areas.
"

Which makes perfect sense, since military people tend to be more conservative...

"Finally, the distribution of household income of recruits is noticeably higher than that of the entire youth population."

I think it was Medved who had some statistic that of the general population, 40% of late teens/ early 20's (recruiting age) are from families with more than $40k income (the median U.S. income). In the military there is about 45% representation from this higher economic bracket.

"Being a follower of Jesus, who preaches love and salvation? Well, that's just STUPID because...well, because they say so, that's why!"

As an atheist, you do a good job defending religion;-)

I just find atheists who attack religion nauseating, particularly since they're the ones always spouting about accepting differences.

You're talking about the multiculturalists who by definition have to be impartial and respect other religions but, who can have no religion before them -- other than their own twisted ideology that tells them it is all bunk anyway.

"Kerry's intended point was obvious."

They are right - it was obvious. And it had little or nothing to do with Bush, no matter the 'Rat spin machine says.

Another note, Kerry was complaining about being "attacked" by a "stuffed suit" (Tony Snow) and the "doughy" Rush Limbaugh after Kerry, at the very least, called the president stupid. (That's if you accept his spin that he was calling the president stupid, not the troops in Iraq.)

The only real attack I heard on Kerry was when Rush called him a "despicable human being." I say, if the shoe fits...

Thank God Kerry isn't president.

All religions are equally to them, an idea which by its very definition means they believe in none of them.

I personally don't believe in any religion, but unlike the multicultis I actually respect Judeo-Christianity above all other religions, which of course makes me just as bad as if I were a believer. I reject their cynical belief in their own godhood even more completely than I could ever reject a religion.

These 'smarter' Kerry supporters who think that 'the troops are dumb' had better hope and pray (to their gods marx and stalin?) that those American troops dont all suddenly quit and allow all the ruthless and evil people in the World to come and kill them. The dolts have ever shown their ingratitude to their betters who have defended them.

I realize that this editorial has been posted and commented upon, but now Kerry's website is featuring it on it's front page, which says to me that Kerry's "apology" was complete bunk.

Good point. I hope this makes the rounds.

The Seattle-PI is a communist rag.

No wonder they are in love with lurch.

I clicked through to the website and saw that JohnKerry.com is "teaming up" with MoveOn. So I guess it's official.

I also noted that -- for some reason -- they didn't post the "HALP US JON CARRY" pic! Maybe they don't have a copy and we should send them some! ;-)

"Kerry's Remark: Right either way"

Another variation of "fake, but accurate."

Captain's Quarter has some comments on the fact that this now shows up onthe Kerry website:

November 04, 2006
Kerry's Big Dig

************************AN EXCERPT ********************************

John Kerry has made himself the gift that keeps on giving. After supposedly botching a joke about President Bush and telling a college audience that a lack of education and hard work would get them "stuck in Iraq", he took criticism from Republicans and some Demicrats for two days. He finally apologized for both screwing up the joke and the fact that no one understood his genius, and the controversy finally started to recede. However, Kerry -- who has never learned the First Rule Of Holes -- decided to keep right on digging yesterday by posting a Seattle newspaper's editorial on his campaign web site that says he was right in either interpretation:

Hardly a surprise coming from the PI - it manages to be sneering, patronizing, and entirely mistaken in the space of a couple of idiotic paragraphs.

The fact is that Kerry was wrong either way. It seems to be received truth on the liberal side of the house that the armed services really are the repository for the mentially deficient and facts won't budge them from that. And as it happens Bush is more "educated" than Kerry is. One thing is certain - if you're too stupid to join the armed services you can always write newspaper editorials for a living.
