Kerry's intended point was obvious.

It was, that's why all the spinning is not working. "You can't piss on my leg and tell me it is raining" saying comes to mind. He is either an elitist moron, or a total jerk... most likely both. Thank the good people of Ohio for saving us from this potential Jimmy Carter with a bank account.

What's also important to point out is that if President Bush is "stupid", then by precisely the same standard, John "Francophile" Kerry is just as stupid, and more importantly is also a moral dwarf.

It puzzles me that the gimmiecrats imply that individualism, free markets, decency, religion, and
limited federal power are the stuff of cave dwellers, and when they are called on it they scream that their patriotism has been questioned.

I loved your letter. The writer of this embarassing opinion piece has not an ounce of honor or respect in him, so your excellent letter would be lost on him.

Exactly - it's part of a pattern that's been going on with him since 1971. By the way, did you notice that Kerry has (like many others) mastered the Orwellian non-apology apology?

The spin goes something like this: IF my words offended any, I apologize and am sorry that they did. But NEVER is there a mention that I AND THE WORDS ARE WRONG!

He must not only feel that the troops and Bush are dumb but we as well - for how could we be so stupid as to understand a plain English paragraph as it's clearly written!

But we're all too unsophisticated to grasp those nuances!!

The dummies disdain patriotism but don't like being called unpatriotic because they believe only they have the right to make such judgment calls. They believe they are parents, and non-commies are little children--they get to set the rules, not the other way around. So it is against their basic nature to allow judgment by those they see as their intellectual and moral inferiors, the ones who should be listening to their teachings and not living by their own lights.

Religious people in particular inflame their utter contempt. They prattle on about "difference" and yet can't stand it that someone believes a religious creed over their own hateful orthodoxy.

Being a follower of Marx, even if "it's never been done right" and has killed tens of millions and enslaved more? That's ok because they MEAN well.

Being a follower of Jesus, who preaches love and salvation? Well, that's just STUPID because...well, because they say so, that's why!

Reid, Pelosi Rally to Defend Kerry

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi wrote President Bush encouraging him to act immediately to reverse the decline in our military’s readiness. “As Senator Kerry has so incisively pointed out, the U.S. military is the repository of our society’s losers,” the two wrote. “The combination of a slumping economy and a failed education system has left too many poor and minorities with too few options. Opportunistic Army recruiters are sweeping these unfortunates into military service where they serve as cannon fodder for Bush’s imperialistic ambitions in Iraq.”

Reid said he was inspired to write this letter because “The Republicans are trying to make a big issue out of Kerry’s advice to students. His intent was to urge students to do well in school so they wouldn’t flunk out, lose their student deferments and get shipped to Iraq. He was just trying to use this unpleasant reality to help motivate them to study hard.”

Senator John Kerry (D-Mass) has faced widespread criticism for a speech in California where he asserted that “only morons and losers end up in the Army.”

I really don't think this is going to help Jon Carry a bit. Basically, this editorial says: "He was right. Our military IS a bunch of the dumb or disadvantaged."

A new study released last week by Tim Kane of the Heritage Foundation, Who Are the Recruits? The Demographic Characteristics of U.S. Military Enlistment, 2003–2005, finds that the liberal conventional wisdom is contrary to reality:

In summary, the additional years of recruit data (2004–2005) sup¬port the previous finding that U.S. military recruits are more similar than dissimilar to the American youth population. The slight dif¬ferences are that wartime U.S. mil¬itary enlistees are better educated, wealthier, and more rural on aver¬age than their civilian peers.

Recruits have a higher percent¬age of high school graduates and representation from Southern and rural areas. No evidence indicates exploitation of racial minorities (either by race or by race-weighted ZIP code areas). Finally, the distri¬bution of household income of recruits is noticeably higher than that of the entire youth population.

The statistics provided in Kane’s new study might threaten to shatter the ideological reality of liberals if they really had any concern for the facts. But as long as they can identify grieving widows, brokenhearted parents and orphaned children to give them the sound bites they need to promote their anti-war narrative, it’s doubtful that the facts will play even a minor role in shaping the reporting of the war by the mainstream media.

I didn't serve, I admit that freely. My father did, he was a paratrooper just before 'Nam, and I have a nephew who's down at Fort Bragg right now undergoing paratroop training. While I agree that reasonable people can disagree about the war and the strategy of the administration, I find it reprehensible that the Dems will so openly attack the men and women who are dedicated to the defense of this country. Kerry may be a vet.. in the loosest sense of the term.. but his comments and actions ever since he got out, demonstrate clearly why the Dems simply cannot be trusted to defend the USA. The fact that the Dems considered him fit for the Presidency speaks volumes.
For this reason alone we must work to make sure that the Dems don't regain power next week.
