Problems of world could be solved following the teaching of Islam: Charles
Pak Tribune ^

RAWALPINDI: Britain`s Crown Prince Charles has said that Islam is a religion of peace and brotherhood and the problems being faced by the world could be solved by following the teaching of Islam.

Addressing a ceremony during visit of Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on Tuesday, Prince Charles said Pakistan and United Kingdom have deep and historic relations and participation of women for the bright future of the country is indispensable.

Spouse of Prince, Camilla Parker, British Ambassador and others members of delegation were present on the occasion. Vice Chancellor FJWU Dr. Najam Najma also spoke on the occasion.

The promotion of education in the country especially among the women is a need of hour as well as to avert clash of civilizations, Prince Charles remarked.

Prince Charles urged the students to learn more and more about science and information technology and put Pakistan out of energy crises.

While appreciating the steps taken by Government of Pakistan for the promotion and development of women, he said women could play a vital role in the development of Pakistan.

He went on to say that number of Pakistanis living in various cities of the country including Gujrat, Mir Pur and Jhelum are playing a vital role for the development of United Kingdom.

He expressed grief and sorrow over the destructive earthquake that struck Pakistan last year in which more than 73,000 people were killed and left 3.5 million people homeless.

Prince Charles said he would visit earthquake-devastated areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) during his current visit.

Commenting on scholars and heroes of Pakistan`s history, he said Sir Syed Ahmad Khan had started to impart education according to need and requirement of that time among the Muslim of sub continent adding that he was inspired by the personality of Allama Iqbal.

Jalaluddin Roomi four hundred years ago stressed the need of better relations between Islam and other religions, he noted. Prince Charles further added that clash of civilizations could be averted by following the teaching of Islam and Quran.

He's obviously not the Defender of the Faith. I hope Queen Elizabeth II lives as long or longer than her mother.

God, I hope so...even though I'm an American, and don't understand the 'royal' thing (i.e. this person is better than me because he/she was yanked out of so and so's crouch), I respect William because he's serving in the British Military, and refuses special treatment.

You just gotta respect and admire a lad like that.

Well that settles the argument.....about why Prince Charles' eyes are so close together. There is nothing in his head to separate them. Obviously a result if a failed inbreeding practice.

Ample evidence of what inbreeding does to the intelligence of the "royals". Fortunately his sons are blessed with some genetics from outside that circle.

Prince Charles is a wanker. I can see him now the King with the turban. I am sure he would love that however I doubt he will ever be the King, I think the Queen knows how odd her son is and the crown will pass to his son. Have you ever noticed how much Cindy Sheehan and Charles look alike? Maybe they're related somehow. Both are oddballs too.

All Charles' problems [starting with a warped weltanschauung] could be solved by a good old turpentine enema - even without the broken glass. It clarifies the things marvelously.

The Queen had best get busy on the succession issue. Charles as King would be a catastrophe for England. The Queen and England are vulnerable until she sorts this out.

That's what I think, too. Charles and Camilla can live on his farm, mucking around with organically-grown veggies and raising horses, safely out of the limelight. Perhaps he could chair a foundation on architecture (the one cause he promotes with which I agree) and work on a biography of George II.

Meanwhile, William, enormously popular, can be crowned King Arthur, Defender of THE Faith, and all will be set right.

(I probably read too much history and mythology, but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.) LOL!

No he's right. See, here is the plan. First we all say we are Muslim. Then we denounce all existing Muslims we don't like as apostates and infidels for not being exactly like us and taken orders from us. Then we blown them apart. All the problems solved! After that we can go back to being whatever we were before. It is just like Muslims themselves, who have been murdering each other with a will for a thousand years.

My very serious question is whether Charles may have secretly converted to Islam. Many of his remarks and public appearances give the definite impression that he might have. As I understand my English history, the Act of Settlement, adopted in the early eighteenth century, prohibits anyone other than a Protestant from becoming the English monarch. The English really need to investigate very carefully whether this dubious individual has actually become a Muslim, since that would preclude him from ascending to the throne on his mother's death.

Since MadIvan's a Brit, his views on his would be most appreciated.

I don't think it matters. We won't wear a Muslim king. The next thing to keep in mind is that he's old. The Queen can, in theory, determine a successor in her will. This hasn't been done in a while - but it is possible.

I do think William will be our next King.

Britain`s Crown Prince Charles has said that Islam is a religion of peace and brotherhood and the problems being faced by the world could be solved by following the teaching of Islam.

Charles is a twit, but I doubt very seriously if he actually said precisely this.  Notice that it's not a quote?  He probably said that if people actually followed the true teachings of their religion, including those of Islam, then the problems facing the world could be solved.

Remember the source:  The Pak Tribune, as in Pakistan.  Hey, I don't trust the Christian Science Monitor.  Why should I trust what these jamooks tell me?

Since I last posted, one other thing has come to mind. As I remember my English history, the title, "Defender of the Faith" was bestowed on the young Henry VIII by the Pope because of a tract Henry had written denouncing Protestantism. Thereafter the English monarchs hung onto it, even though they became Protestants (sort of--see highly syncretistic history of Church of England). Once the Stewarts ended their reign with James II being booted out of the country the title took on the new, and very important, meaning of being the defender of the Protestant faith embodied in the Church of England. All of this later history is basically something Parliament imposed on the Hanover family as a condition of their becoming the English royal family, along with the Act of Settlement. How then does Charles, a Hanoverian who will owe his succession to the English Parliaments of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, even have the power to change "Defender of the Faith" to "Defender of faith?" It would seem he's seriously mucking with the legal basis of his own succession if he tries it. In other words, the historic title will be legally and historically imposed on him and he appears to have no legal right to change it without an act of Parliament.
