Angry Conservatives Coming Home (FReeper Classic)
NRO Corner ^ | 10/25/06 | Anonymous FReeper

From a reader:

Jonah, Over on Freerepublic, I've been one of the people who consistently has been chanting for abandoning the Republicans. The fact of the matter is a republican in congress has a lot more in common with a democrat in congress than either of them has with me and the other folks who only get to spend their own money. The contempt they hold for your average American slips out from time to time and it's always disheartening. So come election time, it seems the only tool I have to get them to listen to me is to threaten to withhold my vote and potentially move the scope of all political discourse further to the right. But when the moment arrives, I'm going to hold my nose and vote for the republican lying weasel instead of handing a victory to the democratic lying weasel.

I mean I'm angry... but I'm not an idiot.

It is a sad day for America, but that is what it has really gotten down to...very much the lesser of two evils. I am fed up with the Repubs for MANY reasons, but there is NO WAY I will put a socialist/Marxist in the White House and turn the defense and economy of this country over to the liberals.

That would be the end.

Come on home Republicans, it's us against them. The Primary is the time to dispose of RINO's. Once the General Election comes, I will crawl through a hurricaine on broken glass when I'm sick as a dog, if necessary, to vote a straight Republican ticket.

A RINO will at least vote with us part of the time. A Demonkat will NEVER vote with us!

That douchebag liberal hump, Tommy Kean Jr., didn't make it any easier to vote for him with his interjecting his baby-killing views into a media-driven debate between celebrities (Limbaugh vs. Fox).

I'd love to deny him my vote, but he's running against Torricelli's marionette, and the thought of that puppet floating more tons of cash towards The Torch is just too disgusting to bear.

Kean - you have my vote. I hope you choke on it, jerk.

We're all angry..it's that time of the year.

The dims are yanking our chains, the MSM enrages us daily with their fabrications, Hollyweirds like MJF are spewing their disinformation (even going off their meds for effect),the voices of reason keep getting yelled down and the people who are supposed to be on our side disappoint us daily.

But, considering the alternative, anyone who doesn't vote in order to make some kind of statement, IS an idiot!

The GOP owes a great deal to the LP for not fielding many candidates this year. Had the LP ran but a handful of candidates in key places, it would have been devastating.

Whoever this person is, well, good for him or her!

Reminds me of the old 1972 Ad Council PSA on voting: "Vote and the choice is yours. Don't vote and the choice is theirs."

Voting is always important. We've got brave men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan putting it all on the line for us so that we can go to the polls.

Think of them when you vote, it that helps; not your creepy congressman.

The answer to conservative anger is for the conservatives to become more active in GOP primaries - raising money to defeat RINO incumbents and nominate true GOP stalwarts.

Voting 3rd party or staying home does nothing to make the GOP more conservative, because the attitude of the RINOs who are in charge of the nominating process is: "Well if the Democrats won it's because our guy was too conservative. We need to find someone more moderate."

The RINOs never react by nominating someone more conservative next time.

I admit that I voted for Perot and I have since learned my lesson. It's a bad idea to send a message by voting for a third party or by not voting at all. The stakes are high and the voting booth is not the place to be sending messages to flawed Republican candidates. The alternative is brutal.

Since there is ZERO right wing in America these days..
Voting RINO(republican) is the only choice..
A White RINO HOuse is far better than a Democrat White House..
Same with Congress..

DON'T VOTE and you have voted TWICE for a democrat..
1st not voting for the RINO and 2nd making a democrat vote doubly potent..
In effect not voting for the RINO is WORSE than actually voting for a democrat..

WORSE!.....

Conservatives are not staying home but independents are. The RINO/Bush strategy of 'staying above the fray' and not willing to fight and do whats right is going to hurt the GOP.

The republican big tent strategy doesnt work - either they stand for american/christian values or they dont. The GOP will lose because they werent willing to fight for American values.

"...but they are at least Americans and not Democrats."

I'm glad to see others phrase it that way because I am coming to the inescapable conclusion that the current Democrat Party has ceased to be an American political party and is more akin to an anti-American insurgency.

The actions and rhetoric of Democrat members of Congress regarding the War on Terror have been atrocious and irresponsible to say the least. I honestly believe the nation is in greater peril from liberal politicians and media within our borders today than the threat posed by foreign enemies during the Cold War.

Come on home Republicans, it's us against them. The Primary is the time to dispose of RINO's.

Unfortunately, the national Republican party routinely supports incumbents regardless of how odious the person is.

Two clear pond scum examples come to mind: Lincoln Chafee and Arlen Specter. Both would have been defeated in the primaries, and deservedly so, if the national party had not come to their rescue.

I no longer contribute a penny to the national party as a result.

Sadly, when the time comes, I will almost always hold my nose and vote for a miserably worthless RINO Republican rather than an outright pond scum Democrat. But I no longer buy the "do it in the primary" argument.

Since Lincoln Chafee does not rise to the minimum standard of "miserably worthless RINO", I would not vote at all rather than vote for Chafee.

The way I look at it is:

What will be the better choice to advance the Conservative Agenda:

- Voting for a Democrat, putting them in power and have them run all the Committees in Congress,

- Voting for a third party, who has absolutely no chance of winning, thus giving the Dems a higher probability of winning, or

- Voting for a Republican, even if he's a RINO, thus keeping the Republican's in power and having the chairmen of all the committees have an R next to their name.

I've decided that that best way to advance the Conservate agenda is to vote for the Republican... even if he's a RINO... because it gives the CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS in Congress more power!

I've learned my lesson in the past (I voted for Perot in 1992, which gave us 8 years of Clinton - I'm sorry) and will not repeat my mistake!

Dear Angry Conservative,

Something has been bothering me of late. Our country has become so polarized and hateful to one another that the problems facing our country and how to overcome them can no longer be handled by a political system made up by two hate filled groups, Republicans and Democrats, who truly despise one another. How deep is this hate, how much longer it will continue, and where it will lead could very well be something that no one wants to think about.

Now, before someone says, “Diversity of opinion is a good thing,” look at where diversity has lead the Iraqis. The Iraqis have been contending with diversity in that part of the world much longer than we have in this country, and where has it taken them? They have come to hate one another to the degree that when given an opportunity to be a free and democratic people, they seem to prefer to use this freedom to murder one another.

Can we see what our own future may hold for us by observing what diversity of opinion has done for the Iraqis in the “Cradle of Civilization”? Diversity of opinion might be a good thing, but at the rate we’re going, how much longer will it be before we start acting like Iraqis?

Exactly.

I'm not too happy about the Republicans right now--among other things, many of them cannot govern responsibly at all.

It just seems like the collective spines of much of the Republican leadership has went missing--IMHO, it almost seems like the Republican Party proper has split into a more independent conservative faction and a faction that seems to remain absolutely faithful to President Bush, Chairman Mehlman, and the RNC.

And it appears that with it, the Republican Party of Goldwater, and later Reagan has lost its strong, united, moderately-but-distinctly conservative identity amidst this division--a farther to the right independent conservative movement and an increasingly centrist faction loyal to the RNC.

Almost like the yin and yang being pulled apart...

The sharp contrast within our party is one of the key things that's keeping many (myself included) people as indie conservatives and not necessarily Republicans. It's these points that seem to obstruct reunification and thus emerge as a strong, united front.

This isn't to say that American conservatism demands a lockstep identity (as does Liberalism). Far from it. Conservatism by nature is an amalgam of many different opinions--nay, a veritable spectrum ranging from American Reactionary to right-wing libertarianism to social conservatism to fiscal conservatism to religious conservatism to classic liberalism (e.g Locke, Smith, Jefferson).

All of us are bound by many principles--the biggest IMHO is the idea that man is a good being in himself and is capable of self-determination.

In this day and age, it is just that we need to work together if we are ever going to permanently stop the nation's destruction at the hand of the Libs. The mere thought of putting Dims in office is morbidly treasonous in its own right and for the sake of all who love this country, must be stopped dead in its tracks.

America doesn't deserve the G-d-awful vitriol Pelosi, Kerry, Obama, etc. ad nauseam seek to unleash on this country. And imagining the country under the Dims is just too painful to think about.

OTOH, it is interesting to study this in school...8^)

Yes Send those stupid Republicans a lesson. This year the media has done more than it has ever done before to elect Democrats. If that happens Republicans and Democrats will draw the conclusion that the only way to win is to please the media. Both parties will move left.

The media has planned to discourage all the conservatives it can so they don't vote or vote for libertarians. Many conservatives will do exactly what the media wants proving to both parties that the media can control how enough voters vote to control the outcome of elections.

So if the Democrats win the election, both parties will move to the left. The primary reason most elected Republicans are doing the leftist thing is they are convinced that the only way to win is to try to please the media. So they are trying to please the media.

What would blow both elected officials and the media out of the water would be a Republican victory. That would prove that the voters control who gets elected. Both parties would move to the right. Everyone knows that elected Democrats are to the left of the Democratic party base. But they, like the Republicans, believe that the only people they must please are those in the media. But if Democrats lose it will change both Republican and Democratic minds about the power of the media. They will try to align themselves with the Democratic base which is currently more conservative than elected Democrats. The media's influence will be greatly reduced.

But it is quite likely that enough conservatives will do all they can to prove that the media is in control. The main stream media thinks that conservatives are dumb and easily lead to do counter productive things to their cause. Perhaps they are right.

Yep, the sad part is that some of the Repubs (RINOs) have found the fast track to the quick buck and political power is through liberalistic actions. Spending, socially liberal crap (open borders), the giving away of our soverignty, etc. All of these things have been bait to weak Repubs who really have no business being in office where they only serve themselves, like liberals. The Repub party of old (Reagan+Goldwater), myself included, are finished unless a uniform return to conservatism and staunch protection of the Constitutional rights, is to occur.

If not, we will all be on top (or under) a huge socialist/Marxist dung heap....
