MEDIA, Pa. - The FBI raided the homes of Rep. Curt Weldon (news, bio, voting record)'s daughter and a close friend Monday as it investigates whether the congressman improperly helped the pair win lobbying and consulting contracts.

Agents searched four locations in the Philadelphia area and two in Jacksonville, Fla., said Debbie Weierman, an FBI spokeswoman in Washington. The congressman's home and his offices were not among the locations searched, she said.

Earlier Monday, Weldon called the investigation politically motivated and called the timing suspect. The Republican, who is locked in a tight re-election bid and has clashed with the Bush administration, denied wrongdoing and said he gave his daughter no special help.".....

Nothing like making incompetents who wield power mad at you.

(Note, not saying he's not a crook. Being a politician, I assume he is, as generally only crooks want to be politicians. But I also think whatever he did would have been ignored, but for pointing out the intelligence failures caused by Gorelick, et al.)

With all these different locations being raided (and the number of agents involved) I guess that is the reason they are not investigating Dingy Harry.

Lack of manpower; that an the rest of the agents too busy undergoing Muslim Sensitivity Classes.

According to Rush Weldon has said that this is being orchestrated by CREW, the same group that ginned up the "Hastert Must Resign" kerfuffle and pushed the Foley messages to the press and the Democrats. They're a Soros group.

I don't know if that means the stories are false and CREW is just planting them or if they've filed complaints that are leading to real action by some federal agency or whatever.

This was initiated by CREW and Melanie Sloane. Same group that caused the Foley hit. It is pure politics. Scummy in the extreme. Weldon may be a little kooky but he is not corrupt. My children went to school with his. Also, he has the FBI and CIA mad at him because of his ABLE Danger accusations. The Democrats are truly a slimey group of people. If their tactics win them Congress it will just encourage more of this in the future. Emmanuel and Schumer are sleazey. I hate politics.

"Child" makes it sound like the only way that Curt Weldon's daughter COULD have received money was with his help. His children are educated adults, yet the AP doesn't want the reader to think so.

Also, for your interest: Posted at Just One Minute from a Democrat blogsite:

I am sad to report to this community the reality of the ground situation in a northwestern bellwether county, Wood County Ohio. Despite our enthusiasm for recent polls and excitement in general it appears the republican early voting effort is far superior to ours.

Absentee Ballots have been going out for one week, and the Republican early voting turnout machine has proven superior to our best efforts. To date nearly 3,500 absentee ballots have been mailed out. 40% of which have been mailed to Republicans, 40% to undeclared and only 20% to Democrats.

Republicans have mailed multiple absentee registrations to all of their registered voters and have followed up with multiple robo-calls and human calls to ensure that their voters have turned in their early voting applications. Additionally there is evidence that they have reached beyond their republican base, and have targeted independents in a number of important swing precincts in Wood County.

Wood County has gone twice for Clinton and twice for Bush. Bush won Wood County by 3% points over Kerry. Wood County is a suburban to rural county south of Toledo Ohio and is an indicator of how well candidates will perform in very close races. Obviously Sherrod Brown is in a very tight race.

I'm a little worried. Okay a lot worried.

Well, the accusation is that Weldon helped his lobbyist daughter get gigs, so she would be part of any charges and it's logical to assume that she might have evidence.

However, the fact that they're investigating Weldon for his one daughter but NOT investigating Reid, whose sons (4?) are all lobbyists representing firms with issues that their father has helped with is what's totally absurd about this to me.

I'm beginning to believe that our FBI, CIA, and State Department are just arms of the democrat party. I used to admire these agencies, but not anymore. They scare me with how very politically motivated they seem to be. Who is ordering these investigations?

That was part of the Communist President, William Jefferson Clinton's plan when he made all his moles in the CIA permanent under the civil service act so President Bush couldn't fire them.

If you think it's bad now, wait until 2008 if the idiot's in this country elect the hildabeast as president. With her as a front and slick in the background as 'first scum' and no official duties to attend too, he will be free to use all available sources to drive this country into a third world country under the third world order faster than a flash of lightening. Never forget all those records they stole and have in their possession.

I'm so angry about this... this is the lowest of the low (IMHO)... now everyone will be talking about this and the real dirty politico once again gets swept under the carpet... Harry Reid. I want to know why no one is talking about Reid but us?

I just Pray people see through this and return Weldon by an overwhelming majority. Then Soros and CREW can all crawl back under their rocks and look for their next victims.

All we need to know is if the FBI strike team here is composed of the same rogue agents working with the same rogue judge who invaded a House of Representatives Office Building without permission of the House to conduct a treasonous raid.

Dollars to doughnuts it's the same gang.

"The Justice Dept. is rotten to the core."

Yep. What federal prosecutors did in Michigan (see Rapanos vs US) was criminal and Congress should start an investigation and throw these left wing rats in prison. (Yeh, right.)

Congress will protect its filthy left-wing bureaucrats and throw you to the dogs every time.

I called the FBI to see if they have a department for dealing with complaints about their actions.  That's because of how they obviously had to tip off the press so that they could be there to photograph the raid.  They told me to contact the media or my elected representatives.  I sent the following email to my Congresswoman:

I would ask that your office check into news reports of the FBI raiding the home of Congressman Weldon's daughter and her business associate just 3 weeks before the election.  If, in your estimation this action was politically motivated, whether by anyone at the FBI or elsewhere in government or by persons outside the government, then I would ask that you speak out publicly and forcefully against such reprehensible actions and call for Congressional hearings to determine if any officials in the FBI have acted contrary to law and their oaths.  I particularly point you to the Philadelphia Inquirer article (linked via the Drudge Report: http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/15772927.htm) with accompanying photos of the raid.  For those photos to have been taken someone, probably in the FBI, needed to tip off the media to the raids.  That argues for a political motivation for these actions by the FBI.

Congressman Weldon has come out and charged that any investigation was triggered by a complaint filed by people from the George Soros funded group CREW (also mentioned in the article linked above).  These are the same people who sat on the Foley emails and IMs and pushed them out for the well timed feeding frenzy.  Particularly when this current FBI action is compared to the official "ho-hum" response over revelations about Minority Leader Reid's windfall profit on at least one questionable land deal, which is tied to his official actions in manipulating federal land practices and the actions of his lobbyist sons on behalf of questionable (at best) elements and you begin to wonder what's going on this election season.

I tried to contact the FBI to provide them feedback directly and they directed me to either my representative's office or the media.  I doubt very seriously if contacting the media will do any good.

Thankyou for your excellent work.

A 100% political prosecution from Clintonoids at the DOJ.

Do any of you guys look deeper into things, or just blame everything on Clinton and his "holdovers"? On the face, this is such a stupid, knee-jerk argument.

This investigation is being orchestrated by the DOJ's Public Integrity Section. The former two chiefs were handpicked by Chertoff. The first one was appointed by Bush as a federal judge earlier this year. The second was a Chertoff disciple. The current acting chief of this office is Ed Nucci.
