Good post. I like Dog and I like the Bush Administration. And we have absolutely no idea what is going on behind the scenes. We only have the press—and anyone who trusts them, well, they deserve what they get.

I think all of us would do well to realize that they will use just about anything to divide and conquer this season. Including the Dog.

"we have an opportunity to complain to our (lousy) congressmen."

I don't know about you, but I have plenty to say to my congressman. Seems like they get worse every year.

Actually I do have a Gun related question for you, is there a good cleaning kit you recommend for my wife's G-26, maybe something online?

What has the U.S. government done that would lead one to believe they are "ready to cooperate" with Mexico on this topic?

The simple fact that the U.S. government and President Bush has caved on every other issue relating to Mexico.

Rather than rose colored glasses it would take opaque glasses not to see this.

This is a high profile case where our governemnt could at least pretend to have some stones as we cannot expect them to build a wall, enforce some laws or deport 30 to 40 million criminals.

At the very least throw us a bone even if it is just a Dog bone.

There have been several here that cannot stop themselves from making her weight an issue and making fun of her.

JMO, and FWIW, I think Dog's(Chapman's) wife is a total bitch from what I've seen on TV.

" I wonder if anyone within the administration has thought anything about the political ramifications of this case?"

They don't think!

"My wife has put on a few pounds since having kids too.

You have something to say about her?"

Sounds like she needs to eat some salad and hit the gym!

BTW, Eaker I wouldn't be surprised if this mornings earthquake is ultimately traced back to Dog's wife, Beth< falling out of bed this morning in Honululu.

Can't really go wrong with anything carrying Hoppe's name.

I do prefer oil from Militec.com though.

Here is a good start on supplies:

Take care,

The Feds arrested Chapman in mid-September. I would certainly call that cooperation. The Mexican government's request for arrest could have been ignored or denied.

What has the U.S. government done that would lead one to believe they are "ready to cooperate" with Mexico on this topic?

I appreciate that, pollyannaish, and agree with your assessment too. I'm willing to bet that if this story could have one detail changed, some folks would be singing a different tune. That "detail" would be that this story took place in another country, not Mexico. Anger over the border situation and illegal immigration can be blinding. Anger, itself can be blinding. Look at what's happened to the Dems! LOL

If I intentionally break the law in another country, I don't think folks should blame our President for my actions nor the charges I face, nor the outcome of those charges.

Illegal Detention? Whata farse..I can't tell you how many times I was picked up by mexican police when in TJ; all they were doing is shaking us down for a 20 spot. You don't pay, you stay overnight in their jail (then they charge you out the ass for the accomodations).

Screw meh-hee-co

Add the term "whiney" between "total" and "bitch" and I think that you have summed up most FReeper's opinion of you too.

Now you get that basement clean or mommy will limit your Internet time.

"Dog bone"...har har Seriously though, I think the issue of border security and illegal immigration, shouldn't be part of this story. For example, let's say that our border was secure, all the illegals have been rounded up and deported (I know, it's a dream...but hang with me here), and all is right with the world. Would you still bleme our President for the mess that Chapman is in?

They rarely send us our criminals.

You might want to consult the US Marshals office on this. Mexico (according to what a couple of marshals claimed on a radio show) sends the US several hundred prisoners a month, requested by the marshals. The US does the same for Mexico. Making an exception for Dog may cost us the chance to get several we would like. The "Railroad Killer" is one turned over (even though it was clear he would be executed.) His wife actually turned him in.

I see your point but one must address the dog that has been biting one's ass for 30 years.

We need to treat Mexico differently than Iceland because Iceland hasn't infested our country and been screwing the American taxpayer for years under the nose of Presidents and a willing Congress.

If you have millions of mosquitoes and a single flea on your porch what do you spray for first?

Another thought.... When the writer of the Washington Times op-ed referred to it was "Washington" doing Mexico's bidding, but the article, and others, state also that 29 members of Congress have written and signed a letter to Ms. Rice on Chapman's behalf. Sounds like some in Washington are trying to help him. That fact shouldn't be glossed over either.
