I listen to Rush online at work, and then Dave Ramsey. I guess they get a little jumbled in my subconcious because the other night I had a dream I was grocery shopping with Rush and he was checking the price of each item.

I was surprised and said, "With all your money, I'm wouldn't think you'd still be worried about the price." El Rushbo pulled out a wad of bills (I figure this was my dream version of Ramsey's envelope system because I immediately understood that was all he was planning to spend.) and said, 'If I didn't budget, I'd never have any money. You only have money when you control your spending."

Pretty funny. Still, I doubt Rush worries about the cost of anything any more.

Part of Rush's success is that he is correct. Smart, funny, incredibly articulate, but also correct in his worldview. He doesn't have anything to prove. And for all his bluster, you can tell he is quite humble deep down.

Gotta love him. He deserves every penny in that checking account.

You summed up Rush's attributes quite nicely. I can only imagine how special a one-on-one conversation with him would be. I could not care less about celebrity; I grew up in Hollywood and it doesn't faze me or interest me. But I would LOVE to meet and talk with Rush before I die. To me, that WOULD be a big deal.

To be honest...Air America...when placed on the famous Red versus Blue county listing...couldn't move out the metro areas of NY and LA. There was no profit from day one. If you had dragged out a very intelligent speaker...with a bit of southern persuasion and wit...and a flirt on top of that...then Air America would have charmed a big audience...but then...that never was the plan. It was "doom and failure" from day one on.

The big problem with Air America Radio is that they didn't bother to get radio hosts with REAL talk radio experience. Why didn't they pry Ray Taliafero and Bernie Ward from KGO, for starters? Why didn't they sign up Ed Schultz when they had the chance?

Your defenses of Rush in posts 58 and 59 are weak. As regards the contrasts of social liberal and fiscally conservative, his definition left a lot to be desired since he essentially said that the social liberal component is largely confined to abortion and we should know that it is not.

And if you want to defend his arrogance on the basis of tongue-in-cheek and as a means of offending liberals, well, I just can't agree. Mr. Limbaugh is, quite frankly, a braggart (and it's never a good idea to toot your own horn, your accomplishments should speak for themselves) and from combining his on-air bragging and what I've read about his being self-conscious and quiet in social situations, perhaps suffers from a bit of social awkwardness which he constantly seeks to overcome.

Incidentally, a string of "No's" does not constitute a refutation.

That is a great picture! Air America failed because the left consists of anti-thinkers usually propped up as psuedo-intellectuals spouting mindless, neo-marxist drivel. They are adverse to true enlightenment and therefore prefer mindless entertainment to thought-provoking conversation. This guy is a perfect example.
