Mark Warner's Clinton Problem
Radar Online ^

Posted on 10/13/2006 10:27:20 AM PDT by SDGOP

The former Virginia governor has decided not to run for president in 2008, saying he doesn't want to spend precious moments away from his wife and three daughters.

"This is the right time for me ... to have a life for a little while," said Warner, considered to be the only Democrat with any chance of taking on Hillary Clinton. But the man the New York Times declared in March to be "The Anti-Hillary" might actually have a lot in common with her husband.

D.C. insiders are speculating that his surprise pull-out may have been sparked by concerns that alleged past sexual indiscretions could derail his campaign—especially in the midst of theMark Foley feeding frenzy.

"I can't believe no one has mentioned his philandering," a former political aide tells Radar, adding that she herself was subjected to Warner's advances in the late '90s and had heard "stories about Mark and many interns."

"This can't be isolated. I have to believe this stuff is all over," a former D.C. consultant tells Radar.

"It would be ironic if the anti-Hillary faction's best hope turned out to have the same problem as Bill," the consultant said.

Wonder what the witch found on him. Whoever faces her in 2008 better have led a sinless life. She and her coven will have a complete file on any missteps they may have had along the way, while of course, the msm will not find anything shady in her past.

The MSM will not INFORM THE SHEEPLE about anything shady in her past.
Why would they dare?

Sadly it seems to be. I heard the funniest arguement about why it's okay for democrats to have affairs and do messed up stuff and why republicans can't. Some lib was like "well democrats don't claim to be moral, so we don't have to hold ourself to any standard, you republicans do"

I don't think there's a politician alive that doesn't dream of being president. That's why I think there's more to this.

Could be affairs (male or female), could be shady money dealings, could be drugs. Who knows? I don't think M.Warner is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Or as has been speculated, maybe Her Thighness promised him something to get him to withdraw from the race. That wouldn't surprise me either.

I suspect that people have tried. But she has a lot of accomplices who seem more than willing to take the fall for her in order to keep her record "clean". That baffles me too. She seems to be such a mean and vicious person - why would anyone be willing to take the hit for her? I don't understand that level of loyalty to such a nasty person.

You mean like dying a natural death?

I said this on the Harry Reid thread when someone speculated Hillary was behind his news. Someone else asked why now with the control of Congress riding on this election.

My thoughts? It's in Hillary's favor for the RATS ~not~ to take back control. Because if they do, they'll want to pull the troops home, they'll start impeachment proceedings, they'll derail any Bush nominees, they'll raise taxes, etc. Then, the country has two years to think "Dear Lord, what have we done?"

You people don't get it. The Democrats have never tryed to portray themselves as without sin or with morals. The Republicans are the ones who say "Vote for me. I'm not like them". If you don't put yourself on a morality pedestal, you can't be knocked off.

Tell me the name of a dem who has gone public with the fact that he happily cheerfully cheats on his wife... I'm sure you can tell me about many - you know - before they're caught... I suspect your excuse for dems is a lie - not your lie - but a dem lie. If you doubt me, come up with a dem who says it's OK to steal, OK to cheat, OK to have sex outside of his marriage. You see, they might say it after they're caught, but NEVER before. Prove me wrong.

Hey Rush and Hannity - have some of these Dems on your show and ask them if they moral or not ... ask them what rules those dealing with them don't have to follow... Can I steal from them? Can their wife cheat on them? Let's clear up this dem BIG LIE..

Gimme a break. If Hannity got any one of those dems you're talking about on his show - each and every one of them would say they were moral and believed in right and wrong. Want to put some money on it?

I would love to see a dem get on and say, " yeah, I'm a sleazebag - cheat on my wife and steal from whatever moves..."

Yeah, like that's going to happen...LOL.

Now maybe, dems will tell the young bimbo's they boink that they never said they were "moral" - followed up with "my wife doesn't understand me", but they sure as hell don't say it to an adult. Well, one that's mildly savvy and not being used as a sex toy, that is... Above a certain age, people stop falling for obviously transparent lines... I don't know what you're smoking, but it must be some powerful stuff.

You've fallen for the biggest lie of all the dem lies...

Here's a flash - no one is pure as the driven snow. No one. No one says they are -- if you've heard it, share. I've never heard anyone say it. Even dems try to be moral - and when they fail, they know the difference.

Clinton said "Ah did not have sex with that woman, Monica..." - If he really thought it was OK - why didn't he say, "Ah had sex with Monica and anything else that moves - you know I'm a dem, and well, as we dems say, "anything goes". That didn't happen.

Do you want to know why that didn't happen? Why the truth had to be dragged out of him? Because Clinton knew. He knew the difference between right and wrong - and he wanted to get away with doing wrong. But he sure didn't proclaim it to the world like you think dems do - they don't. Not Clinton, not Hastings, not Byrd, not Kennedy.

Clinton might of said it to Monica - "hey Monica, the rules don't matter..." But he didn't brag about it to the voters or his wife or to friends he respected. He knew.

No one gets a pass for being immoral by pretending it's OK. Not even Clinton.

Let me ask you a question - if a man who kills a child thinks it's OK to kill children is he less guilty than the man who also kills a child, but senses it's wrong? My position is that the killers are equally guilty. What's your position?

I was shocked to hear he dropped out.

He was the only possibility that could beat Hillary, and I thought his candidacy could take him to the White house in '08.

Now, we have a excellent chance of retaining the White House.

Which probably means we will lose everything else, however. The voters are definitely inclined to split the power up, as I see it. The MSM has been successful in making a war political.

Not to mention the Republican party is shot to pieces, and Humpty Dumpty is not going to put himself back together in time. Even I have issues.....big issues with the BS the party has been doing, from the dumpster diving to this recent gambling nonsense.

They are done. I will probably split a ticket this year, and I have not done that for some twenty years.

So much for harmony.......

That idiotic Internet gambling bill attached to the homeland security legislation.

I find it absolutely mind boggling that conservative have accepted Internet regulation. Just amazed!

Not a word from anyone...just let it happen.

What's next? The door is wide open now, and repubs did it when we stopped every dem attempt.

All in the name of what? Friggin moral BS? What?

It's turned into a friggin vice quad of moral equivalent church ladies. Gambling evil...sex evil...smoking...eating............FOOOIE!

Drinking is next....

I'm outahere!.....

Registering Independent on Monday and I voted for Nixon! been voting straight tickets ever since, with one local exception. I've had enough of the BS. This sort of social crap is not and never has been in the platform. It is Republicans selling out. Selling everything built over 25 years of sweat for the votes of a vocal minority.

It's over....They are done, and I suspect about a third of the party is going with me. I knew it was going to happen a few years ago, and watched the ship sink. It's a damn shame....I guess we will see what the dems can get by with now.

They are easier to stop then your own party. At least you know who the real enemy is. Had the dems tried to pull this crap we would have stopped them cold. Yeah right! conservatism works every time it is tried eh? Well watch as the boat takes a header to the bottom.

The party has redefined conservatism. Nobody sees it! The party is no more......

At least we managed to repair SCOTUS, but the job was not finished, and now it will not be.

Yeah, I'm puzzled by the extent of GOP support for the internet gambling ban. Overall it's not a good precedent to set and it could lead to more attempts to regulate the internet. But we have to keep in mind that gambling is one of the most heavily regulated activities in America--much more regulated and controlled than alcohol, tobacco, and firearms. At this time, nobody can open a legal gambling business in their home or place of business, so that raises the question of whether internet gambling companies should be able to effectively open a gambling business in every home and office that has internet access. This is a serious issue and it's really more of an economic issue than a moral issue. The economic issue is that some people get compulsive about gambling and lose a lot of money, which can cause economic hardship for themselves and their families. I know you're thinking, well that's their problem and generally it is, but if the parents of a family go broke because of gambling then they can end up on welfare and food stamps and/or not feeding their children adequately, etc.

So it's a complex issue and I have mixed feelings about internet gambling. I'm generally a very disciplined, non-impulsive person and thus I've never been attracted to gambling other than betting on some football games when I really think the odds are strongly in my favor. I'd like to be able to bet online rather than drive up to Nevada, so this is a hassle for me. But I also understand that some people can't handle gambling and it can cause them serious problems. So it may be best to restrict gambling to horse tracks, card rooms, and casinos in the states where it is legal.

I wouldn't write off the GOP just yet. Watch what happens here...I really believe the GOP will hold both houses of congress with a bunch of close victories that aren't won until the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Santorum will retain his seat by a slight margin that will leave the Dems in an incredulous frenzy. "How could we lose that election?!", they will scream to each other. I have a strong feeling that we're going to win 75% of the close races this year.

But we have to keep in mind that gambling is one of the most heavily regulated activities in America--

Then regulate it....!

But that is not what they did, or intended to do.

I don't even play poker. I have no personal stake in this topic.

What they have done is alienate many thousands of republicans who do, however. Worse than that, they have put the fear of regulation and future bans into our young folks who we were doing so well in recruiting. They are all pissed, even my son, who is 21.

Republicans to them, are now control freaks......and moral equivalent wackos...

The young see the truth more often than not. Their brains are not full of crap yet.

The party has really stepped in it, and they don't even know it. I think Bush suspects it, because his people totally evaded questions on the subject.

This is a silent killer. Like Schiavo, Meirs and the resulting House and Senate faulty knee jerk reactions, it will dog the party and create perceptions that cannot be erased without a great deal of time and effort. Those perceptions were once again reinforced.

Now the perceptions of dumpster diving Republican scams, cheats and sex perverts.

Whoooopeee.......It was fun while it lasted. I wish I still had optimism, but not even Rush can restore that for me. We are in deep doodoo....

Well the regulation of gambling is largely restrictions on the type of gambling, the amounts wagered, and the location of gambing businesses. So this is a well established practice of restricting the location of gambling businesses and keeping them out of homes and offices.

Personally, I think you're greatly overestimating the importance of this issue to most conservatives and independents. Only a small percentage of people do any significant online gambling and it's not that big a deal to them. I would like to bet on sports online but it's not an issue that would make me not vote Republican. I understand the other side of this issue, and generally the GOP is much more opposed to regulation of business and the internet than the Democrat party.

Either party, it has nothing to do with morality, just another chance to tax the first string of unraveling the free internet.
