Bookmarked... Wow, you've compiled some GREAT research here! I hope you've passed it on to the conservative media. Thanks for your hard work.

Thanks for looking- I have more to post, soon, and I'll never catch up with the replies ( and I have a yellow jacket nest to get exterminated, so the Real World is dragging me offline for a while )-- but I appreciate the comments and added links.

A BIG FOLEYGATE MASTURGATE ROUNDUP, at Pajamas Media.

Plus, an open secret? And a look at the GOP playbook:

And a look at the blog that started it all. UPDATE: Hmm: "Meanwhile, does anyone think it is ironic that so-called progressives who excoriated eavesdropping on terrorists are feasting on the publication of supposedly confidential email and IMs? You can forget about privacy. It no longer exists, if it ever did."

GAY PATRIOT says that Democrats are descending into "sexual McCarthyism" in the wake of Foleygate, circulating lists of Republican Hill staffers who are presumed to be gay. "I am not surprised that this is where we are headed. But my question is…. why have our national gay organizations (HRC, Log Cabin, NGLTF) not stepped in to stop this witchhunt which originated on the Gay Left in the first place? I think we know the answer."

UPDATE: Eric Scheie writes on when "outing" isn't enough. "Who'd have ever expected to see gays and antigays rejoicing together?"

I guess it's more of that strange-bedfellows stuff.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Not FoleyGate, MasturGate: "This may well be the reverse Monica of the new century; the first time that a remote hand-job has had a hand, so to speak, in bringing down a government. . . . Coming from a party that is first and foremost about advancing gay and lesbian rights on all fronts, it seems especially shameful that -- to settle all their old scores and gripes and grievances -- they are going willing to sacrifice the lives, careers and reputations of their fellow Americans."

MORE: It boils down to "Where were the Republican Taliban when we needed them?"

Foley Scandal: Cybersex Between Two Adults?

If what Passionate America claims to have discovered is accurate, the page to whom Mark Foley sent explicit instant messages was 18 years old at the time: Meet Jordan Edmund One Mark Foley Instant Messenger.

UPDATE at 10/4/06 5:33:11 pm:

This is now the headline at Drudge Report.

UPDATE at 10/4/06 6:02:39 pm:

Allahpundit emails to say there are PDFs of an IM exchange from February 2, 2003. The page in question apparently turned 18 on February 23, 2003.

Does anybody but me think this is the stupidest, most insanely overblown scandal yet?

UPDATE at 10/4/06 6:23:03 pm:

Still there’ll be more: The Bogus Blog Behind Foley’s Fall. (Hat tip: LGF readers.) link: 439 comments "So some Dhims have been sitting on this story for 3 years. Then it gets put in circulation 5 weeks before the election. In the past, Dhims were "smart" enough to wait until days before an election. (TANG, DUI, etc)." "This ranks as one of the most amateuristic and pathetic smear jobs I've ever seen in politics."

#298 Dave the.....  10/4/2006 07:40PM PDT

Here are some reasons not to let Dems control congress:

Judges: Do we need more Ruth Buzzie Ginsberg ACLU lower the age of consent to 12 types in their?

Unions: Instead of voting by ballet, the Dems want to change the law so they only have to have employees sign a card. So you get a knock at your door some night. "Hey there Dave, I brought your card over for you to sign. I'd hate to have something bad happen to you so you'd better sign" (I used to live in a union town and the old stereotypes are still valid)

Taxes: See the dow. See the unemployment rate. See the tax revenues. See all three go bad with Dem tax increases

Entitlements: You think Bush is bad now. Bush and the Repulicans spent $122,000,000,000 on Katrina, and the Dems say it isn't nearly enough.

Foley Won't Depress GOP Turnout

Agreed. Politics is a game, and you don't always win. There are no good options here. The least of the evils is dumping Hastert and then moving on, letting this thing slip from the news cycle. There are still over five weeks left until the election.

Frankly, the collection of, uh, stuff posted here bears an uncomfortable resemblance to the collection of, uh, stuff that the 9/11 conspiracists post.

When "outing" isn't enough
it is hard to deny the sweet, sweet justice of Republicans being politically damaged by a lurid sex scandal in Washington.

-- Glenn Greenwald.

Yeah, and it's also hard to deny the irresistible nature of the Foley "pedophile sex scandal." Were I working for Bob Casey, I'd advise him to scour the record for every photograph taken of Rick Santorum with Foley. Similar photos could of course supply last minute hit pieces for every Democrat running for Congress unless the Republicans treat this as the hardball operation that it is, and do the same thing. (As Glenn Reynolds says, "it's starting.")

The problem with politics is that watching these things happen is as predictable as it is frustrating (especially if you've seen it coming).

Glenn Reynolds also links Gateway Pundit's speculations about why Michael Rogers and John Aravosis -- both specialists in that noxious invasion of privacy called "outing" -- kept so quiet for so long about Congressman Foley's penchant for male teenage pages:

Radical Gay Rights Activists held on to information about Representative Foley for months and years. These "Rights Activists" knew that representative Foley had relationships with "young men less than half his age." They did their own investigation on Foley. They even flew in their sources in to be interviewed about the Representative. They shared this information with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. They held on to the information for over a year. They wrote about how they would break the story at midterm elections.

But, the radical gay activists and democrats never thought about the safety of the teens who were at risk!

How true. But how loudly they complain that the nation's youth are at risk!

As Gateway Pundit says, it's not as if their agenda wasn't made clear over a year agoActivists held on to information about Representative Foley for months and years. As Gateway Pundit says, it's not as if their agenda wasn't made clear over a year ago The "self hating closet case" stuff is critical to understanding this outing mentality. In 2004, Bill Clinton accused a gay Republican of "self-loathing" because he opposed Hillary Clinton... UPDATE: Drudge links to David Corn's post about a thing called "The List": MORE: Via PJM, Fausta has more on the outrageous double standard, while Bruce at Gay Patriot has a great post on the Gay GOP Witchhunt:  Tom Maguire's dead-on analysis, and this post!

They'll Regret It ("We all know this kind of scandal isn't just a Republican problem")

Worst October Surprise, EVER--I told you so. (Not you personally, but Freepers). When this starts to wash out, you're going to be amazed.
1) There are FAR more Dem perverts in DC than Republican perverts (and I don't doubt we have a few). Very soon, it will be the DEMS screaming to let this go, to just move on, to bury it. MARK MY WORDS.
2) You heard it hear first: I think, before this all washes out, you're going to see some of these perverts linked back to Bubba's administration, then the Dems are going to be screaming that it's a "dirty trick" to damage Der Schlickmeister's rep.

Certainly, when Democrat Stubbs was caught seducing male interns, no one turned the story into an attack on Tip O'Neill. "

Exactly

Also note how most all the dems are avoiding the whole Stubbs case and how dems applauded Stubbs

They are avoiding all these questions like the plague

No Republican is defending Foley's behavior.

Democrats have done much worse. Democrat politicians invariably circled the wagons, defended the transgressor AND the behavior, and attacked all critics and accusers with barrage after barrage of propaganda.

Remember these Democrat propaganda catchphrases?

"Character doesn't matter."
"Everybody does it."
"It's not really sex."
"Private morality has nothing to do with public behavior."
This Foley episode is merely the latest in a long list of

DEMOCRAT Dirty Tricks!
Every time you think the Democrats could not sink any lower:
SURPRISE!!!
And whenever possible, there's always a big

NOVEMBER SURPRISE!!!

The alphabet whoredom of democrat sycophancy media has outed itself as ONLY servants to anything democrats choose to sling at Republicans, lying with abandon and mischaracterizing purposely to create scandal while maintaining what they know to be lies. America is in deep trouble this election cycle ... leftist societal engineering media bastards are working overtime to destroy this nation so it can be remade in the leftist image. If conservatives do not vote this cycle, they will deserve the revolution to follow since they, the people, the sovereigns, will have abdicated to the degenerate party which defends death and mayhem as empowerment schemes for their promotion.
