IXMIQUILPAN, Hidalgo — On a misty, moonless night, the group scurried down the canyon wall, their feet slipping in the an kle-high mud. The sirens grew louder as their guide, clad in a ski mask and known only as Poncho, urged them to run faster. “Hurry up! The Border Pa trol is coming!” A couple in matching de signer tennis outfits loped awkwardly along, the boyfriend clutching a digi tal video camera and strug gling to keep the pop-out screen steady. The 20 or so people flee ing the Border Patrol aren’t undocumented immi grants — they’re tourists about 700 miles from the border. Most are well-heeled professionals more likely to travel to the United States in an airplane than on foot.

They’ve each paid US$15 for what is perhaps Mexi co’s strangest tourist at traction: A night as an ille gal immigrant crossing the Rio Grande.

Advertising for the mock journey, which takes place at a nature park in the state of Hidalgo, tells the pretend immigrants to “Make fun of the Border Pa trol!” and to “Cross the Bor der as an Extreme Sport!”

Dig the detail about the rousing rendition of the national anthem. So much for amusement park fun.

Is there a part of the simulation where someone can play the part of a U.S. National Guard soldier repelling boarders???

I'll do that for free...Or $20 USD...Whichever is cheaper...

I'll even go so far as to invite liberal aquaintances to play the part of a simulated "US Aid group" manning up "water stations"...

With simulated water of course...The real stuff will cost you $50 USD...a bottle...

I guess the coyotes play rape the smallest, most vulnerable female...? If the group is unruly, do they get abandoned in a box car?

I see real synergies here: there is pent up frustration among well-heeled, adventure seeking Americans about border INaction, too:

How about a JOINT Adventure Park, where Americans PAY to play the part of the Border Patrol...? And they hunt the REAL Mexicans...?

Paint-ball guns, radios, quad-runners...?

It would DEFINATELY get pulses racing on both sides!

It sounds more like a how-to seminar.
