A Different Tack on Immigration (Edison, NJ Caves to Asian Immigrants)
The Star Ledger ^ | 9/25/06 | Suleman Din

While some New Jersey towns have worked to make life more difficult for illegal immigrants, Edison is considering a policy that would prevent its police from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

The Middlesex County township, whose population is one-third Asian, is mulling a written "no-coordination policy," prohibiting township police officers from informing federal authorities about an individual's immigration status, and from assisting or cooperating with federal immigration investigations.

Mayor Choi should be deported and sanity returned to Edison Township.

it's crazy, i think it's do to pressure from the citizens, recently the mayor backed up a cop who arrested some Asians. the cop was later cleared of all charges and now the mayor must do something to appease his voters.

Edison was prompted to react after the July 4 arrest of Rajnikant Parikh, a 30-year-old liquor store clerk, who claims he was roughed up by officers. During an August rally for Parikh outside town hall, he was arrested again -- this time by two agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, on an outstanding deportation order signed in Texas in 1996.

He's lived here illegally for most of his adult life so he 'deserves' to be protected and hidden by local law enforcement? I guess he was to busy for the past decade plus to take care of that pesky illegal entry thing.

Mayor Bok Choi is getting bashed by the (white) Democrats on the NJ.com Edison board.

A certain young Indian lass I know is supporting the cops on this one.

Mayor Choi should be deported and sanity returned to Edison Township.

The Edison Democrat Machine brought this on themselves. If they had run a halfway decent organization, nobody would have given Choi the time of day. But they were the most corrupt, most featherbedding, most nepotism-ridden, least responsive municipal government that anybody had ever seen. I cry no tears over the passing of the Edison Democrat Machine.

The fact that it was replaced by something that is also less than perfect just means we have a new problem. But that does not mean we should go back to where we were before.

...see if you break the law in the US, just run to New Jersey and you'll have a safe haven run by law breakers protecting you. Anyone wanna bet Rajnikant is living with "relatives"in an apartment shared by others that is breaking other laws in regards to occupancy...you know living in shifts...local officials like Mayor Choi look the other way when simple local laws are broken, defying Federal laws when there's no enforcement is the norm

True. Not being a native of Edison, I should have nevertheless assumed that it was a Dem stronghold, like every other town over 25,000 in New Jersey.

There was a rash of bank robberies in Edison a few years back. You know who were the perps? Off duty Edison cops. They finally busted the ring because one of the idiots brought the money into the station after he robbed the bank on the way to work, because he didn't want to leave it in his car.

Situation in Edison, the PD has had institutionalized racism in it's hiring practices for years, 10 years ago they had 1 non-white cop in a town that was maybe 25% non-white at the time. Asian college students I knew from there were constantly on about the racism the cops displayed, and being targeted for traffic stops if they were not white.

IDK what's happened in the intervening years, but the township also has serious issues with new immigrants (mostly Asian, mostly Indian diaspora) who come over with vast wealth in comparison to township median incomes too. Every meet an illegal alien who's worth $20 million but lives in a pretty standard NJ suburban home? Quite a few young ladies in Edison like that. These families don't want their nieces deported, nor do they want to find new gardeners/maids/nannies etc., if their current illegal house help are deported.

Here's what really happened July 4th. How do I know. I spoke directly with the second officer who arrived on scene. This incident took place in a large apartment complex. About 900 people all of indian decent were out in streets, shooting off fireworks(illegal in NJ), double parked, blocking fire hydrants etc-etc. Edison police officer dispatched to area. Arrives and asks crowd to cease and disperse. Also he verbally stated he was not there to arrest anyone just asked crowd to disperse. An Indian man steps from crowd and begins verbal exchange. He then shoves officer. Officer then wrestles perp to ground and arrests him while other officers(called for backup) hold crowd at bay. Individual arrested claims officer attacked unprovoked and claims racism/police brutality. After individual Raj Parikh proccessed finger prints are sent to feds as per normal police procedure. Feds call a few days later to ask whereabouts. Turns out this individual was not only in violation of deportation order but also was on FBI terrorist watch list as "person of interest". That's right! Mayor Choi now wants to adopt these new rules to prevent any cooperation! This story needs freeper exposure to become national story!

One of the interesting trends you see in Middlesex and Mercer Counties: Wealthy Indian and Chinese families buying houses (often knocking them down!) among blue collar whites.

Look around Edison, Iselin, Piscataway, etc. You can tell who the white people are because they have a pickup truck and powerboat in the front yard, to say nothing of smaller houses.

This is what happens when they work like the devil to get into positions of authority. Their aim is to turn the U.S. into their old home place from which they came. But then diversity is somebody's strength, not sure whose.

Can't wait for our first Hezbolah Senator from Michigan.

Choi had it tough. The old boys club threatened him. Spadoro rigged everything to explode the minute Choi took office.

From the police on down Choi was backed into a corner. Plus if he decides to do something about illegals and they close China Bowl, I will be pissed. It is the only decent Chinese restaurant in Middlesex County.

Choi is still a scumbag.

This is a struggle between trashy "native born" townie types and annoyingly clannish third (and second) world immigrants.
