Simple question. There are lots of competitive races this time around, and if you had the power to assure one of them won, who would you pick?
Steele is not only a fine man and a good politician, but I think his win could change dynamics around the country.
Santorum. With Irey a close second. And I ain't even from PA.
Daytona 500 for me.
Irey?
Sorry, not familiar with that one.
(Wait, is that the person challenging Murtha?)
Anyhow, Santorum would be up there for me, he'd probably be second to Steele.
Formula 1 here
Steele would be a good one.Take that Kwezi Mofo!
John Spencer - New York Senate.
Sanity over Islam.
Seriesly, it would be Mark Green for Wisconsin governor.
The one I had the money on.
Actually, Mufume's son just endorsed Steele, and the father hasn't endorsed Cardin from what I understand.
Maybe he'll endorse Steele?
Santorum.
Fleet of B-52s over our enemies.
The top three horses in a Trivecta at the Meadowlands ....
....may I place a $10,000 bet first?
Browns beat the Bengals at home!
Ken Blackwell.
Keep dreamin
I hadn't heard that. Cool!
Vikings beat the Bears at the roller dome!
Irey, but give me Steele to place.
"John Spencer - New York Senate."
Ding Ding Ding.. Winner!
Steele would be the biggest, I agree. Of course it will kill me if Harold Ford Jr. becomes my Senator, so having him lose would be a close second.
Santorum. Above all, he is the left's #1 target and must be re-elected.
Did you buy a ticket yet? If so, thanks for the contribution.
How about both Menendez and Kean drowning in the Raritan river during a visit to Perth Amboy. With any luck, they went there on Sharpe James boat and it sunk.
I second that - The Mark Green for Wis. Gov part anyway.
Allen because although I am from Pennsylvania and hope that Santorum makes it. I think the country needs Allen to be available for Presidential possibilities. Yes he has slipped up a bit lately but we still have ALONG time until the elections for President. If Allen were to lose this race it would be all over.
I looked into it a little bit more.
I was half-right.
Kweisi Mfume's son DID endorse Steel, but Kweisi himself finally did endorse Cardin, even though it took a couple of days.
His son, Michael Mfume, quoted a Billy Holiday song when asked about a father and son making different choices. But I can't help but wonder if this is sort of a :wink:wink:nudge:nudge: endorsement from the elder, i.e. he can't do it officially if he ever wants to be anybody in the Democratic party, but he'd rather Steele win.
As I live in Massachusetts, I would do everything in my power to see that Duval Patrick doesn't get to be our new governor.
As a New Jersey resident, your post gets my nomination as the best on this thread. LOL.
I honestly think Allen has proven himself to be not-ready-for-primetime. He's always had weaknesses as a candidate for Pres, but if he's going to make this many mistakes running for Senate, he's crippled himself IMHO.
Oh man this is a tough one. There are so many important races. I guess my #1 priority for this year would be to see Diana Irey beat out that old man. Mike Steele is a close second.
The one Republican I most wanted to see win in '02 was Bob Ehrlich, in part because of the hate and racism he and Mike Steele were getting from the Dems. If the MD Dems stoop as low as they did 4 years ago then I wuould put Steele on top of my list.
Then there are the others: Santorum, Talent, Kennedy of MN, Katherine Harris, et al. Here in my own state I am no fan of the "moderate" Republicans in Congress but the Demo alternatives to Shays, Simmons, and Nancy Johnson are far worse. I have never supported Joe Lieberman but the thought of a far lefty like Lament being my senator makes me ill.
I can't wait for it to be Nov 8.
We're a bunch of sad people aren't we? You and I had the same thought.
Really? He actually seems less nuts then his primary opponents. Or is that just the perception from afar?
Anyhow, good luck giving Romney a sendoff. Unless something changes, I'll be rooting for him in '08.
Thanks,
My Top Ten:
1. Spencer - New York
2. Harris - Florida
3. Santorum - Pennsylvania
4. Steele - Maryland
5. Blackwell - Ohio
6. McGavick - Washington
7. Irey - Pennsylvania
8. Kean - New Jersey
9. Burns - Montana
10. Sexton - Oregon
11. Swann - Pennsylvania
12. Lieberman - Connecticut
We just might get a twofer in the upper Midwest in governor's races, Granholm is in trouble.
For the big strategery thing, George Allen.
For the stick it to the rats pleasure, Katherine Harris.
For the long term demographic shift, Michael Steele.
Sorry, but one is never enough. I could go on.... :-)
Oregon over Ohio State in the Rose Bowl
Regards, Ivan
He won the primary. Chris Gabrielli, at least based on his policy statements, was the least objectionable and most reasonable sounding. If I had to have a Democrat governor than he would be my choice of the three who ran.
Dunal Patick favors in-state tuition for illegals and is against implementing a long awaited voter-approved tax cut. He is not only a Clintonista, but a progressive activist lawyer.
I believe his policies will drive business out of Massachusetts. Many here fear for his impact on middle-class population flight and the cost of living.
It's just a fantasy, but I would love to see Dick Mountjoy kick fienswine" butt!
I like Steele and Vernon Robinson, but I would dance and sing if Irey won.
We could really see a change in the senate if John SPencer were to send the wicked witch of the east back to Chapaqua - she wouldn't be able to maintain that Georgetown mansion of hers if she didn't have a job there and we'd no longer have to see her ugly mug on the tv every other day!
Steele
