That is true, a particularly interestinpoint about English - it's a common language - the most widespread language in the world, only two countries in Europe actually speak it as a first language - it's a major boost.

Better than a language that doesn't know how to pronounce 'w'! -:P

Most of the Germans I meet in the business setting are painfully aware of the stereotype of the German who pronounces English "w" as English "f" or "v" - so they amusingly emphasize the proper pronunciation.

Educated Germans say "WWWork" rather than "vork."

It's also funny how so many Indians do the opposite - pronounce every "v" as a "w."

I do not know why Rummenigge and Atlantic Bridge are posting at FR - they obviously believe that central economic planning builds economies, not the free market and they don't believe in Nation-State sovereignty, either.

BuHuHaHa! I do not like the current subsidy system of the EU either. That does not mean that everything of the EU is evil. Nevertheless it is a fact that Ireland did most of its recent economic progress with money from the EU.

Besides - why are you against cooperation between France and Germany? That is simply not your party. Souvereignity can also be seen in a bigger coherence. Not everybody is able to understand this. Nevertheless - Germany and France are already controlling the economy of western continental Europe (no wonder - they make most of it) anyway and you Islanders do not really count in greater Europe. It is well known that especially your cousins from the UK are not keen to be part of a closer EU. Guess what - I have no problem with this decision. If you can get a majority of your compatriots to share your view - do me a favour and quit this club. I appreciate people who know what they want. If this is not the case - simply stop whining. To be in our out the EU is your very own problem.

So... we just decise to leave the EU? That simple? We just vote and the EU accepts the will of the Irish people? Like, say, the way it did with Nice Treaty.....

Damn right Irish - that's euro democracy for you - we vote no to Nice, and the euros make us vote again until it is a yes. This euro club is nothing more than an anti-American hate fest that donates taxpayer funded cash to terrorist organizations like hezbollah while their populations vote for terrorist al-quaeda appeasers like that toad Zapatero. To hell with socialist europe.

certainly... your a net reciever your people don't have much buyers force (to less and to poor) your industry is there because they coudn't find a wider abundance of new infrastructure (better then elsewhere in the commonwealth and EU financed) + the abundance in subsidies so they wouldn't go on either - your motivated and educated youth is also known as very flexible geographically and are welcome in the US or in switzerland or germany ... you name it.

Go on... leave the socialists club of terror funders that you support and get an independent country owned by china or the US - they will certainly give you a say on a more irish constitution.

I also avoid goosestepping and the word SChlagram and Blitzkrieg ;-)

Thank god the "baking an omlett by invading the kitchen" stereotype could be passed on the the US.

We have our own concrete factories here, what is your point, Mein Fuhrer? A big difference between importing and subsidies, in any case.

I am trying to find some semblance of coherency in your comment, Mein Fuhrer, let's see:

How many times do I have to tell you?? EU subsidies did NOT help the Irish economy - it was free market reform started by Garret Fitzgerald in the 1980s.

Subsidies combined with the Common Agricultural Policy of the 4th Reich have nearly destroyed Irish agriculture - Irish farmers propped up by Eurodole whilst jumping through hoops of fire complying with insane EUwwww directives and regulations, such as the quota nonsense, elsewhere our economy has gone from strength to strength because of deregulation, privatisation and lower taxation - and the work ethic that my fellow countrymen are famous for (hard work doesn't involve adhering to stringent timetables, as done in Germany).

You are also behind the times, Irish people don't emigrate anymore, because we turned the Irish economy around by ourselves!

Go on... leave the socialists club of terror funders that you support and get an independent country owned by china or the US - they will certainly give you a say on a more irish constitution.

Hold on there.... why do you think America has plans to conquer Eire?? And why are making a moral equivalent between China and the US?? Why are you assuming that Eire will allow a foreign power to rule it? That didn't work out too well before....

if anything, the EU is nothing but a puppet of China - wasn't there some ban lifted on Chinese imports there a while back? Not to mention that Eurocrats and Chicoms share a common outlook there - you know, socialism, global hegemony and all that.

BTW, about Switzerland - Brussels is bullying that country by forcing it to comply with it's stringent regulations in order for it to trade with EU Member States.

Intel and others chose Ireland because the verdant isle is one of the world's leaders (just behind the U.S.) in software development.

...not to mention that they've prettier women, especially when compared to the Fräuleins.

BTW I give up on you... the dramatic increase in statistics on productivity in your country was due to the wise decision of your parliament not to take any taxes from people that settled in the dublin area for the sole reason your smarter then anyone else in europe and because they liked your misses.

to point (1) I may declare that this wasn't the point - it's been about where the money came from.
