In fairness, Nelson of Nebraska votes conservatively on some things, he is a DINO. And Landrieu is the next closest to being a DINO. Both of them can usually be counted on to vote with Reid when their vote is needed though, so that effectively makes them Libs.
Our RINOs on the other hand cannot usually be counted on to vote with the conservatives on any issue of importance, except for nominations, where the nuclear threat negated their power.
However, Landrieu is not. At heart she's just as liberal as Stabenow, Cantwell, Osama Mama, et al. To the extent that she does not appear liberal, it is pure political calculation on her part based on the reality of being in a red state. In reality, she'd love to be able to vote in lock step with her blue-state sisters.
"National Republican Senatorial Committee has said it will concede Rhode Island to the Democrats shold Stephen Laffey, the mayor of Cranston, defeat Mr. Chafee""
I have been out of touch with the news for the last week and I just heard this on FNN. If Laffey wins, the GOP will abandon him and not even attempt to campaign for him. They won't even endorse him is the way I heard it. WTH is that crap? I can understand not spending lots of money in a loser race, but not to even publicly support the more conservative of the two candidates is a travesty.
FYI, Linc Chafee was the only GOP senator to vote against Alito - even full blown RINOs like Snowe and Collins voted for him.
You're right that judges are the #1 issue and a good reason to hold your nose on some candidates, but it does not apply to Chafee (due to his past SC votes).
