Man Accused of Trying to Board Yemen-Bound Plane in Michigan With Knife Hidden in Book
ROMULUS, Mich. Sep 9, 2006 (AP)— A man with a one-way ticket to Yemen attempted to board a plane with a knife hidden in a book, authorities said.
Mohammed Ghanem, 21, of Hamtramck, was jailed Saturday on $500,000 after being arraigned on a charge of possessing a weapon in the sterile area of an airport.
Ghanem was arrested Thursday at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after Transportation Security Administration officers detected the knife "artfully concealed" in the book, airport spokesman Michael Conway said.
Someone had carved out the inside of the book and placed the knife inside it, said Ghanem's attorney, Nabih Ayad.

What bothers me is that the MSM keeps telling us that there has been NO TERRORIST ATTACKS on US soil since 9/11 but we keep hearing about things like this, and MUSLIMS shooting Jews in WA and CA, and bombs at football games, and SUVs drivin by MUSLIMS running over and killing Americans but yet the FAMILY MEMBERS claim.... (which they claim they are crazy, but we all know they are just following the (Q)KORAN) . WTF?

I think this guy ought to be given a half-hour with the other passengers on his plane AFTER they have been informed of what he was going to try and "carry" on board their flight!

I wonder if this guy is really part of something bigger or is he really just a 21 year old busboy that decided to show his personal devotion to Allah?
This may turn out to be a very clear example of what many of us have been saying will become a part of American life, individual Muslims, with no ties to terrorism, performing a personal "holy act" when they become devout, or distraught, or distressed during a troubling time in their life like a divorce.
All my life reading the little 2 inch column stories in newspapers, I have read how Muslim men like to go out with a bang. In many countries they grab a machete, or if they are a policeman they might use a pistol or rifle, but living in America, I'm sure they will be able to come up with much more dramatic exits.

There can't be that many airlines that have flights to Yemen.
He wouldn't have a direct flight to Yemen. He would either connect in New York/Newark or in Amsterdam/London.
He probably was flying Northwest/KLM to New York JFK or to Amsterdam. There aren't any direct flights to Yemen from Detroit.
