This is the same g-factor that got the authors of "The Bell Curve" in so much trouble. There are statistically significant differences between various ethnic groups and races... OOPS...
FWIW... i think it's about what interests children from birth more than how smart they are. i still think it boils down to boys love and want to learn all forms of mechanics etc from a very early age and carry it on into college/life, where women have to take classes (on what we grew up on) in highschool and college to earn their degrees but lack all the practical knowledge/skinned knuckles/lessons learned the hard way we learned early in life... while they were learning to be girls/women, and i think it's a gap that can seldom if ever be made up for.

That most women vote Democrat is enough for me. ;-) I think this study is probably true but we are talking matters of degree where the smartest man will probably almost always outperform the smartest women but there will still be a whole range of cases where men and women compete effectively with one another and where the situation is reversed.
That aside it has been known for a some time that men have larger brains and tend to be able to tackle math and science better than women where as women excel at linguistic pursuits though men tend to have a much larger vocabulary. Just recently another study came out showing that height tended to equate with higher intelligence. People need to not be upset about this and keep things in perspective in that they realize that when something is statistically significant it means that there is a detectable edge not that simple analysis such as picking all the tall guys will guarantee a sample of the most intelligent in the room.
I figured that out a long time ago when I first read that men die before their wives.
Hint: we die first because we want to.

I've been aware for some time that the bell curve for men's intelligence is flatter than that for women.
While this may indicate that there are more male geniuses, it also indicates that there are more male idiots.
