FTR I have inside scoop on the vacuum method of prairie poodle removal, in that 50% were dead or had to be killed after their vacuuming. But it pleased the brain dead and that is all that mattered to dipstick libs.

Getting rid of the treehugging lefty librats in Boulder would help, too. THEY'RE the ones who are against control of these pests -even if they carry plague.

Pumping the holes full of CO2 could save the planet from global warming ;-) Its all in the marketing.

Not surprising.

I met a rancher years ago who had an M-60 mounted on his porch railing. We spent an afternoon sipping beer and shooting prairie dogs.

I'm hardly a PETA member, but killing small animals for the sake of killing and calling it a good time is IMHO a sign of mental illness.

That's the difference between being a city boy and a country boy. Obviously there in Garland, you dont have the nasty little rats destroying your yard and your pastures and your orchards and anything else that they can get into.

Fair enough. I lived in rural (and I mean RURAL) Texas for 10 years, and frankly, I couldn't wait to move back to civilization. I'm unashamededly an admitted city boy.

...but killing small animals for the sake of killing...

It's not for the sake of killing; it's for the sake of being rid of them, which is an important economic concern for the farmers and ranchers involved.

And while I've never been on a prairie dog shoot, I have known plenty of mentally healthy individuals who have; and they would agree that yes, it is one hell of a good time.

You'd think a tractor mounted rototiller could solve this problem.

Well, if the rototiller can dig down 12 feet, it might. The burrows go way down and the little fellers can eat through just about anything. They paved a road near the farm and for a couple of years one pup lived in the middle of the road. He just ate through the asphalt when they covered the hole.

They dont have prairie dogs down at Pineland do they? If you get on up towards Amarillo and Lubbock you will see the destruction that they do, besides being a vector for the plague fleas.

I dont believe in killing just for the sake of killing either, but those little vermin dont rate that protection.

One of the records for long distance shooting with a .30 caliber involved prairie-dog shooting. I can't remember the exact distance but shooter was using a .338 magnum.
