You too? I have got some really vicious emails back from some so called journalists that I disagreed with! They are just so angry!

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the blogging!

I'm sure glad FR isn't a blog.

How about you?

Understood, but I don't see that as a major sin. Rather than worry about whether people are using more than one screen name, blog masters (or whatever they're called) should delete posts that detract from, rather than add to, the discussion. Unless the posters' real identities are known to each other AND they know something about each other independent of what is written, it deosn't much matter who is who. What matters is the quality of the debate.

The comments sound kind of mild compared with some of the replies I've received from journalists whose e-mail addresses were published at the end of their insanely leftist articles in the newspaper. The women are the most vicious--and spell the very worst too.

You've noticed that, too, huh?

I have the privilege (and I'm certain it's not a "rare privilege") of being insulted by Geneva Overholser, the then ombudsperson of the Washington Post -- one-time editor of the Des Moines Register and otherwise a sainted icon of the liberal newspaper community.

Because I questioned the Post's coverage (that is, non-coverage) of the Jesse Dirkhising affair, she felt free to dub me a "bigot", "a David Duke".

I found myself wondering at the crudity and viciousness of her response to what had been a very polite and civilized note: "How does she know I'm not a major stockholder?"

Ms. Overholser no longer works at the Post. And it is my understanding that one of her nasty responses was, indeed, to a major shareholder...

Is anyone else getting REALLY sick of the term BLOGGING? All it means is someone who thinks his/her opinion is SO IMPORTANT, they MUST put it in writing.

Did you post your opinion on that yourself, in writing?

What we're doing is not BLOGGING, my friend. This is a public forum, designated for opinion writing .... A blog is an ongoing commentary by some self-important blowhard who thinks their shit don't stink.

The internet is more of a public forum than this website is. What's wrong with bloggers exercising their right of free expression that wouldn't also be true of posters in this forum?

The term for this sort of alternate identity is "sock puppet." It isn't illegal, but it is and ought to be embarrassing.

ARRGHHH....I was just making a comment that everyone is obsessed with bloggers. Bloggers are only people, and people who think their opinions are so very important. THAT'S ALL
