Country Music Legends Join in the Salute To The Screaming Eagles
The Salute To The Screaming Eagles being held October 14, 2006 at Paris Landing State Park in Paris, TN on beautiful Kentucky Lake, will now have some of the greatest names ever in country music performing. True legends like: Jerry Reed, Little Jimmy Dickens, Porter Wagoner, Tanya Tucker and Bobby Bare, along with Bryan White who just won the CMTs Best Country Video Award.
Also performing will be Miss America, Deidre Downs, Miss Alabama 1997 Beth Stomps, Miss Alabama 1995 Leigh Sherer, Miss Alabama 2004 Shannon Camper, Miss Alabama 2003 Catherine Crosby, and Miss Alabama 2000 Jana Sanderson.
The support from all these entertainers is coming in with one thing in mind- they all just want to say thank you to the military of the United States of America who sacrifice so much for us all.
The Salute To The Screaming Eagles show will be held starting at 6pm at Paris Landing State Park. The show is a USO-type production which features songs of all types, states Debra Talley, show producer and National Marketing Director for American Bass Anglers, the organization staging this event.
Whether youre into pop, R&B, or country, weve covered it all. The former Miss Alabamas all entertainers - present a fast-paced, high energy, song and dance show that seems to never stop. The show is filled with lots of surprises for the soldiers of the 101st.
For anyone that has ever watched on TV, excerpts from USO Shows featuring Bob Hope, it will bring back memories of Ann Margaret and Marilyn Monroe as they crooned their own renditions of love songs to the soldiers stationed so far from home. It was a time when mail took weeks or even months to arrive and email was not even a figment of ones imagination.
An audience of all ages will find something to enjoy whether its a walk down memory lane, or the latest, hottest, most tantalizing songs being played on MTV today, says Talley.
Jerry Reed, probably best known for his movie roles, of course, is a well-seasoned country musician. I began to get seriously involved with paying tribute to the military a couple of years ago in working with the Wounded Warrior Project, says Jerry. I want to bring some of my county music family together to entertain both on bases as well as in VA Hospitals. We have all been so blessed to enjoy a career of what we enjoy most- its time we give back to these soldiers who sacrifice everyday by not only putting themselves in harms way, but by just having to be separated from their families back home. We owe them for going and serving in our place.
The Show is being held in conjunction with the fishing tournament planned for the soldiers of the 101st earlier that day also at Paris Landing State Park. Boaters are needed to take a soldier fishing. If you want to get involved personally and help a soldier enjoy a great day of fishing, you can register by visiting our website at www.americanbassanglers.com .
Miss Tennessee 2006, Blaire Pancake and Miss Kentucky 2006, Rachalle Phillips will both be on hand to say thank-you to the troops and sign autographs throughout the day.
Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and plan to arrive early to enjoy all the other activities planned throughout the day for grown-ups and kids alike. This is one show youll be talking about for years to come. Miss this, and youll regret it! The show is free to all who attend.

There will also be a Wounded Warrior Appreciation Day held in conjunction with this event at Kentucky Dam. This is sponsored by Kentucky's Western Waterland, a tourism group representing 15 counties in western Kentucky.
I can answer any questions you have about this event.
Ping
Sounds like a great event for a wonderful cause. I hope you get an excellent turnout!

Betcha goin' fishin' all of your time, baby's goin' fishing too
Bet your life, your sweet life, catch more fish than you
Many fish bites if ya got good bait
Here's a little tip I would like to relate
Big fish bites if ya got a good bait
I 'a goin' fishin'
Yes, I'm goin' fishin'
And my baby's goin' fishin' too
Heck, even if you don't fish, just go. It is a very nice part of the world to be spending time with some of America's finest.
Damn. I wish I could be there.....
Bump!
Hey Du -- know anyone who would be interested in this??
And mid October the fishing is the best.
This is going to be a neat event.
Fishing / activist / support the troops ping
Rod, do you have any contacts in the area these folks are talking about? It's a worthy idea, regardless.
Ha, didn't John Sebastion and the Lovin Spoonful sing this too?
To da top!
BTTT
Isn't that what keeps interest in a thread going?
We need a good response to this -- please contact any freeper friends who might have a boat and some fishing tackle and could help out.
Whoa,
What a buzz kill.
We'll be thinking about you.
Can you imagine . . .
One of those (unpredictable but inevitable) times when the fish WON'T bite?
There will be lots of conversation, story ideas and memorable experiences to savor.
A lot like the experience we call fishing . . .
"Whoa,
What a buzz kill."
HUH?
What's wrong with the Lovin Spoonful?
Hell yeah! I'll be there. I've got a bass boat and fish KY Lake all the time. Thanks for posting this. I'll do the same on several bass fishing boards I frequent.
Wow, that makes me feel old! SIrKit and I attended the 25th Philadephia Folk Festival. We saw Elizabeth Cotten at her last performance there that year.
I know a few people around here with boats and I'm definitely going to ask them about it. I've printed this off so I can show them what it's all about. What a cool "Welcome Home" event!!!
WOW!
Surely these acts of kindness shall be rewarded along the way.
When I was growing up, my theme song was (don't know who sang it):
"She sits on the docks, fishin' in the water uh huh . . .
I don't know her name she's a fisherman's daughter uh huh . .
Come on down to my boat baby, come on down where we can play. Come on down to my boat baby, come on down we'll sail away.
Fish all day, fish all night, Daddy never lets her outta his sight. . ."
Of course, my Daddy was a fisherman (grin)and I inherited his love of this pasttime
Every Mother's Son sang it
Thanks for the info.
Just saw on local TV another 101st soldier was killed in Bagdad. They have been hit really hard.
God bless and protect our soldiers.
I remember that song, although I can't remember the group. My dad fished, too, and I went with him a lot. He's still a great fly-fisherman. Such an art, it's beautiful to watch. I'm usually hooked up on a big king mackerel with someone always having to grab the back end of my shorts to keep me from being pulled out of the boat, haha. If there are any soldiers that make it down here from the 101st, let me know. We'd be honored to take them on a trip.
Great idea. Makes me want to buy a boat.
Heck, next time I'm down in the Lake Charles/Westlake area (relatives there) I might give you a call and we'll see if we can't hook up with one of those big king mackerals.
I have fished for redfish and speckled trout in that area. Loved it.Did Rita have any effect on the fishing there?
I second that !
Rita didn't have any effect on the fishing to my knowledge. Between Rita and Katrina a lot of commercial snapper boats were damaged. As a result there's been more red snapper for the recreational fishermen. Call me if you get down here, we'll make a trip!
Heck, if there are any servicemen in New Jersey, who want to go fishing, they are always welcome on our boat. (that includes my son-in-law) :)
Great idea. The NC waterman assoc. started taking Marines and Ft. Bragg soldiers saltwater fishing earlier this summer.
It's greatly appreicated!
BTW, lots of hoo action in the Gulf Stream this summer.
Thanks for all your thoughts and support of our heros.
I am really excited about this. As all we anglers know, a beautiful day on the open water,a crisp fall day, when the leaves are exploding with color, is heavenly in itself.
Throw in the fact that fall's fishing is second to only fishing the spring spawn. This concert is free to the public and a chance for everybody to come out and say "Thanks" to the 101st personally.
I can tell you the people who will be taking these heros fishing are wonderful, thankful, patriotic people, I know many of them personally. And I am sure those I don't know are the same.
It doesn't say it in this release, but the Kentucky Wildlife and Fisheries folks are going to be doing several things, including a fish fry (eat yer heart out billhilly, it's probably crappie and catfish), and a lot of businesses located on Kentucky Lake are donating everything from prizes to hotel rooms.
PLEASE patronize these businesses the next time you are in the area.
Better yet, plan a vacation to Kentucky Lake soon and let all those folks know you appreciate what they are doing for these heros, our nation's young sons, daughters, and the future of this country.
Has anyone contacted DU down in Memphis? Now, before anyone gets jumpy, DU stands for Ducks Unlimited, and their national HQ is in Memphis, about 100 miles to the west of Paris Landing.
ROTFL
I knew that, of course, but I bet a lot of people reading this post probably freaked out. Don't be surprised if you don't get called a troll and get zotted before long (LOL)by the ones who just react without reading the entire thing.
I don't know. I'll call my friend, who is director of NE TN Tourism group. He is also a huge duck hunter, and for many years has guided duck hunters on Kentucky Lake and pheasant, quail hunting out west annually. He probably did considering all this.
bttt
such is my luck with fishin'and I wouldn't share that with anyone........
Wow what a great idea! I can understand your excitement at being a part of this girlangler.
I won't be able to make it out to Paris, but I wonder if we could do something like this for the Ft. Bragg soldiers?
Where?
Cape Fear River, Jordan Lake, Harris Lake, or maybe Lake Waccamaw would be closest to Bragg/Pope. It's too bad there aren't any posts out your way, we could do Lake Norman.
I believe a number of troops may be willing to spend a weekend in the Uwharrie/Pee Dee chain (Tillery, Badin, Tuckertown, and High Rock).
