A TINY Canadian university's quirky student recruitment drive sparked controversy this week when it assailed academic heavyweight Yale University for having schooled US President George W. Bush.
To boost its own attractiveness to students, Lakehead University in Thunder Bay on the shores of Lake Superior put up a website suggesting that the heralded US university was not all it is cracked up to be, citing the fact that Mr Bush graduated from Yale.
"Graduating from an Ivy League university doesn't mean you're smart", read the text under a photo of President Bush at yaleshmale.com.
The university urges students to "make the smart choice", adding: "We believe the person you become after you graduate is even more important than the person you were when you enrolled".
Student union president Isabelle Poniatowski criticised the Lakehead pitch.
"The general opinion is that (Bush) is not the brightest guy and can be a real fool, but that's not the point," she said.
"This is a university and to stoop to this level is very base and crass."
For a guy who's suppose to be a real dimwit, he's sure outsmarted the Dems so far.
Uh, he's President and you're not. Next?
"Canadian university"
Adjective says it all. How many prime ministers has this college turned out? Or freed 50 million people? In fact, how many people has the entire nation-state of canada freed in its entire existence? The only thing this country has done is create liquor and big mosquitos. Go put your head up a moose's tush.
Isabelle must find some solace knowing Yale is educating a terrorist.
Really. I wonder what the people at this school think of Dan Rather?
"....he's sure outsmarted the Dems so far.
Well, that may not require much intellectual prowess either.
And puerile.
Well....Bush got a higher grade point than Kerry. They're right on one point, anyway. They did give Kerry a degree and Kerry's an idiot.

True
and tried, but failed, to educate D-student jean kerri.....
Don't throw the baby out with the bath water :) From 2001...
Weren't W's SAT scores higher than F'in' Kerry's? Or was it his grade point average? Whichever.
Canadians have bacon. That's their claim to fame.
They speak French, so I suppose we can't expect too much from them.
Even William Shatner left Canada.

It is a tired conceit of the political left that conservatives, simply because they hold different views from their own, are inherently stupid.
Consequently, whenever a Republican occupies the world's most powerful political office -- the U.S. presidency -- the incumbent is generally portrayed as sort of an idiot-in-chief. It was the case both for great Republican presidents like Ronald Reagan and Dwight D. Eisenhower, and lesser ones like Gerald Ford, who opponents said was so stupid he couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time. Predictably, this slander has now attached itself to George W. Bush. That in the course of political discourse the left so often falls back on what amounts to name-calling says a lot more about them and the weakness of their arguments than anything about their ideological opponents. It is pathetic, really, which makes you wonder why an audio book company and now a university in Canada would want to play the same stupid game.
Simply Audiobooks Inc. is currently trying to hawk its wares with the help of an unflattering picture of President Bush beside the words "Don't read enough?" in its smart-alecky billboard campaign. Now Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ont., has joined in the attacks, unveiling its own ads featuring a photograph of President Bush, a Yale University graduate, and the words "Yale Shmale: Graduating from an Ivy League university doesn't necessarily mean you're smart."
In unveiling Lakehead's ad campaign yesterday, Dr. Fred Gilbert, the university's president, said, "The Yale Shmale campaign speaks to the unique personality of Lakehead University and our community of students." It is a serious mistake for Lakehead to try to inflate its own appeal by attacking other, far more prestigious institutions. Let's face it, for all its much-vaunted status as "Canada's No.1 Value-Added University" (whatever that means), it would take a "unique personality" indeed, given the opportunity and resources, to choose Lakehead over Yale.
In much the same way as those on the political left who think they can advance their cause by hurling insults, Lakehead University comes off looking, well, stupid.

They're right, but for the wrong reason.
WHERE do you think hockey players come from?!?!??
WHERE do you think hockey players come from?!?!??
yeah, but the good ones don't stay in canada very long. Too many misquitos and bad liquor.
I'm not having a go at Canada generally, just this loopy little university.
How many U.S. Presidents has Lakehead University in Thunder Bay produced?
Who?
That idiot Bush graduated from Ivy universities twice!
Graduating from "Lakehead University in Thunder Bay on the shores of Lake Superior" pretty much guarantees that you're not very smart!
(Unless your career goal was to become a sturgeon!)
If you want a real laugh, consider that Gore went to Harvard.
Alex Trebeck ("Jeopardy"), Brendan Fraser, Dan Akroyd, Donald Sutherland , Jim Carey, Lorne Greene , Michael J. Fox , Pamela Anderson , Peter Jennings , Phil Hartman , Raymond Burr , ......and on and on and on.....
When a graduate of Lakehead University in Thunder Bay becomes President of the United States (or PM of Canada), I'll listen to what they have to say.
I find it endlessly amusing that Libs spout on endlessly about how stupid the President is, while the alleged simpleton continues to kick their sorry asses around the block.
If you press them on that issue, they say that President Bush's success is due to the fact that the American Electorate is comprised of morons. Then they immediately turn around and ask those people they have insulted for votes.
It is all very amusing.
I figured this would bring out the ignorant anti-Canadian trolls.
As to your question, go ask any of my Dutch relatives in Holland and they'll tell you how many were liberated by the Canucks. And they must have done a hell of a good job cause it's one of the very few liberated European countries where every generation in the entire country honours their Canadian liberators year-in and year-out.
You can only pray and wish countries liberated by the U.S. were half as grateful.
I guess he really is a smart guy after all.
What I find hilarious is that 95% of the geniuses at this school couldn't handle the decisions that President Bush makes in one day.
I love Canada. The beer is much better.
Come to Australia - you'll think you've died and gone to heaven!!!
What is revealing is not that Lakehead University in Thunder Bay would stoop to such a idiotic campaign, but that it has been all over the TV news for an entire day. How many people were even aware that Lakehead University in Thunder Bay existed before this morning, or will remember their existance tomorrow? And yet this campaign is all over the TV news for an entire cycle 73 days out from an election.
Not that the MSM goes out looking for news to make the President look bad, mind you. But how hard does one have to look before one finds Lakehead University in Thunder Bay?
Not really, its just a pic that I found quickly to link to for the benefit of this thread, but it could be one of Tiger's legion of disciple's ..... /chuckle off
You guys got anything other than Fosters? Why, I'm shocked I tell ya!
Plus, he can fly a jet fighter and you can't. Next? (Actually, before we get to next, it's amazing the number of belly aching, whiney, tavern tout losers I've interviewed who seem to think they're going to find Bush's name on the ballot when they go to vote. Which they won't because they're losers who've been a day late and a dollar short all their lives.)
Satire. It's all their marketing people had a budget for....
Some people are just immensely proud of being third-rate.
I'll certainly keep that in mind (even though your spiders are pretty scary).
Mate, we've got more beers down here than you can shake a stick at! My personal favorite is Boag's St. George (from Tasmania).
You guys did a masterful job there. Great contribution to the world psyche, you moose-humping, horse-turd eating dog. Go stick it in a clog wearing dike.

"Drugs and Sex Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands is famous for its red light district. The sex business in the Netherlands is considered as a legal business in which prostitutes have to pay tax, are registered and have regularly health checks. The use of soft drugs is also legal in the Netherlands, not the dealing in it. The Dutch argue that thanks to their open policy on drug and prostitution, it help them to have a better control over these activities."
No one who works for this left-wing fascist institution in Canada should ever be allowed to cross the border into the United States. They are anti-American and terrorist supporters.
"simply wish to encourage & participate in wholesale bashing of ALL Canadians."
Actually, your prime minister is okay.
