Sorry, I completely disagree with your premise on the face of its illogical conclusion.

If Rudy could stop the liberal/leftist damage in New York, he can certainly do it for the country, where the infestation has not set in to the same degree.

And the media will hate him as much as George Bush soon enough.

You base you selection on a President on abortion alone? Please tell me that's not true.

Can you believe there was a time when people based their "selection on a President" on slavery alone. What's up with these people? </RINO> </COUNTRYCLUB>

Cesspool was my thought of description too, when Dinkins was Mayor of NY city. I had fear being in the City then. Crime ridden disgusting city. Truly amazing transformation is what Rudy has accomplished. Unbelievable. It could be difficult for some to believe how much he transformed this city. You are right. The states/congress will dictate the social issues. I want our Troops and Country safe.

Sidenote, Hillary, Spitzer. Ugh. Prayers up they miraculously lose.

It's the immigration that turned me off to Rudy, as below. WHY DON'T CONSERVATIVES REALIZE THAT MOST ALL REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES WILL DO OKAY ON TERRORISM...... IT'S THE AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS THAT IS DEFINING................

"While McCain has taken heat for his support of comprehensive immigration reform, Rudy is every bit as pro-immigration as McCain - if not more so. On the O'Reilly Factor last week Giuliani argued for a "practical approach" to immigration and cited his efforts as Mayor of New York City to "regularize" illegal immigrants by providing them with access to city services like public education to "make their lives reasonable." Giuliani did say that "a tremendous amount of money should be put into the physical security" needed to stop the flow of illegal immigrants coming across the border, but his overall position on immigration is essentially indistinguishable from McCain's."

That's bad enough. But, as Michelle Malkin has revealed, under Giuliani, New York was an illegal alien sanctuary and "America's Mayor" actually sued the federal government in an effort to keep New York City employees from having to cooperate with the INS:

"When Congress enacted immigration reform laws that forbade local governments from barring employees from cooperating with the INS, Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed suit against the feds in 1997. He was rebuffed by two lower courts, which ruled that the sanctuary order amounted to special treatment for illegal aliens and were nothing more than an unlawful effort to flaunt federal enforcement efforts against illegal aliens. In January 2000, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal, but Giuliani vowed to ignore the law."

Since you want to ignore the facts about Giuliani's governing record as a liberal Mayor of America's most liberal city, I take it, you're either a liberal or at the very least a centrist. Maybe a staffer for Rudy himself! LOL

There can't any good reason for a conservative to be backing Giuliani at this early stage of the campaign. As a conservative I will be patient and wait to see who announces their candidacy for 2008 before I jump on anyones bandwagon. I think you're gonna be surprised, if not shocked when Iowa caucusvoters, and New Hampshire and S.Carolina primary voters don't choose Rudy.

With Allen on his apology tour and McCaine unable to get good press....it seems to be between Rudy or Romney.

The voters are looking for competency and leadership. ..not if they pass a politically correct litmus test.

Rudy is starting to nail this thing down.

Don't have to, he's already done it to himself!
Can't you get it through your head, he is not a Republican?

That's tremendous. We narrow-minded folk who support the right to life, oppose gay marriage, believe in the second amendment, and want border security will find our own candidate.

"Leaders don't poll - they lead - you choose to follow, lead yourself - or watch the rest of us."

If you choose to be led over the bridge to the chasm of liberalism, go for it. I'll be behind you, but heading in the other direction.

You'd better get started, or you'll be too late for this election cycle. There are non-social conservative candidates who will still line up with you on most issues; I take it "most" is not good enough. My own opinion is that GW Bush is as socially conservative a president as is ever likely to be elected.

Correct - or as some us refer to you.

I still love you - we're on the same team - I just prefer
a different starting pitcher than you.

LOL

You and several other FReepers are spending a great deal of your time on rightwing Free Republic attempting to ram a liberal politico down the throats of conservatives.

FREEPER SIR FRANCES DASHWOOD SAID IT BEST:

"The only way the Left can win is to destroy the Republican Party from within. They have lost the public argument and cannot win on the issues, they either have to have despotic judges do it for them, or they have to undermine conservatives in the Republican primary.

It is the only reason some are here now and within the Republican party, interlopers from the Left who can only defeat America and the Republicans by rotting the party from the inside out.

That's only because their pitting rudy against romney, both of who'm freepers percieve to be rinos. GIven the choice of two rino's most freepers would rather have rudy than romney. Toss in a conservative and they'd mop the floor with rudy.
