Publisher Rodale to Reissue EARTH IN THE BALANCE...
Business Wire ^ | 8/21/2006

Rodale Books, publisher of former Vice President Al Gore's No. 1 New York Times bestseller about global warming entitled AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, will reissue his first bestselling book, EARTH IN THE BALANCE: Ecology and the Human Spirit in Fall 2006 (Rodale Books, Paperback, $15.95; On Sale October 31).

AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, published in May, is No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list with more than 500,000 copies in print. Mr. Gore continues to tour the country to promote both the book and documentary film about the destructive effects of climate change, and what can be done about it.

While AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH focuses on the immediacy of the global warming emergency, EARTH IN THE BALANCE takes a broader approach, focusing on the deep roots of threats to our climate, water, soil and diversity of plant and animal life. The intent is for EARTH IN THE BALANCE to add to the overall environmental discussion brought about by Mr. Gore's initiatives.

"The earth sustains us all," said Mr. Gore. "It is imperative that we meet the global environmental challenges we face in order to create a sustainable path for present and future generations. It is my hope that the reissue of EARTH IN THE BALANCE will help in solving the climate crisis."

Rodale Executive Editor Leigh Haber said, "Mr. Gore's EARTH IN THE BALANCE is a classic on the scale of Rachel Carson's groundbreaking book SILENT SPRING. Mr. Gore's early views about the environment remain relevant, and we are thrilled to bring EARTH IN THE BALANCE to new audiences. Our aim is for both books to increase discussions about climate change, and what actions the public can take to address these important environmental issues."

The forthcoming paperback version of EARTH IN THE BALANCE will feature a new introduction by Mr. Gore that documents important political and environmental developments which have occurred since the book's original publication in 1992. Mr. Gore writes about what he had planned to accomplish as president of the United States, how ExxonMobil helped remove the chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and how he thinks the current administration has steered the country in the wrong direction in dealing with the environment and the climate crisis in particular.

About the Author:

The Honorable Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States, remains a staunch advocate of environmental awareness and proactive engagement to meet the challenges of global warming and environmental pollution. Mr. Gore promotes the message that we have the tools and technologies to solve global environmental issues and create sustainable solutions, but we must take action now.

Very interesting note here. If you take a look at this link, you'll see that Arden and Maria Rodale have contributed over $40k to Democrat/Left Wing causes to date. These are PERSONAL contributions, not PAC contributions...and are hard money, not soft money.

--I concluded about fifteen years ago that anything connected to "Rodale" had somewhat less credibility than the local witch or witch doctor--

All we ever needed to know about the 'wisdom' of Albert Gore Jr., was learned from this picture.

Of course. Typical elite limousine liberals that profess to tell "the little people" how to live their lives. As for them, they'll do whatever they feel like to maintain their lifestyle.

Also, note, there is no magazine in his weapon.
I wonder if, like Barney Fife, he was not trusted with live ammo.

You got that right. I too figured out Rodale was promoting a bunch of environmetal hysteria. Too bad, they put out decent publications if they would stay away from politics.

Speaking of an earthly meltdown -

what's going on with the hurricane season?

We've all been told it will be WORSE than last year.

Hardly a whimper about any BAD hurricanes.

More scare mongering?

AlBlowhard admits in that book, (ghost written by some techno hack), that his vote to clear cut the everglades was a mistake because he voted along with his party without considering the environmental distruction that would be wrought and the animal specis that would be lost!

Wanna bet that will be edited out in this new edition?

The sad thing is my pastor is buying into this hype. Labor Day weekend he is proposing a leave the car at home and walk, ride a bike or carpool to Church Service to "save the environment". I agree that Christ made us the masters of our domain and the keepers of all that he created but it's not my fault! I pointed out that the major damage to the Earth's environment can be attributed to Brazilian burning of its triple canopy jungle to increase its farmland and India's clear cutting jungle for the same purposes as well as Central Africa's similar policies. One need only look at the the satellite photos to see the desertification that has occurred the last 40 years and it ain't the US's envronmental policies that has wreaked this havoc!

You may be aware that the remains of an alien spacecraft were discovered in Roswell during the first week of July, 1947. What you may not realize is that on March 31, 1948, approximately nine months later, Al Gore was born.

Now George Soros can invest another twenty million to buy up this garbage, Borders will inflate the sales numbers (like they apparently do with all liberal crap), the New York Times will double these numbers, and suddenly Algore will have the most popular book since the Bible!

I wonder if he made any predictions like Erlich did in the population bomb for around this time back then in 1992. I think if he did they might be cut out too for the sake of clarity and brevity. :)

I have a friend who says all the global warming is the hot air caused by politicians' talking. If he says it one more time, I'm going to shoot myself.
