Protestors wave signs in support of a recent anti-Illegal immigration law passed in Riverside, N.J.

The keyword "ILLEGAL" is almost always omitted by the open borders bunch.

Local TV has shown the protest of the illegals as being made up of Confederate flag toting, heavily tattooed young white men and overweight shrieking women all screaming hateful language.

It would be good if you posted a link to this so that it can serve as a reminder of what not to do.

Illegal aliens pose extreme danger to this country. Not only do they invade this country, all of them criminals, many very dangerous ones, but they also expect special perks and demonstrate in the streets if a community dares to enforce the laws.

Catering to illegal aliens sends the message that you are better off breaking the law than obeying it.

Yawn.

1. Cali is heavily immigrant.

2. Kids in Cali who were born here, or came to US as tykes, speak (fill in language) with their parents, and English with eachother, according to folks I know who teach in San Diego schools, as well as studies done by Doug Massey, who was my professor at U of Chicago.

I've lived in heavily Hispanic communities in Chicago and Miami. The second generation always prefers English.

Be careful about generalizing from you own experience. I was just at a Cuban-Peruvian wedding several weeks ago. My Cuban friend's 11 year-old daughter barely speaks Spanish as you suggest. When I asked her mother, who is much more comfortable speaking Spanish, about this she told me that the children of "upper-class" Spanish families disdain Spanish because they see it as low-class. The bride's maid gave her speech in Spanish.

I am against Illegals of all stripes (even if they are pale and Canadian). Nevertheless, the only people who should be concerned about "losing the language" are any first generation immigrants who's children prefer English after a steady diet of television and hip-hop MP3 files.

I don't think we have to worry about paleface illegals from Canada. Do you think there are more than 50 such people here in this country? There's a steady diet of TV all right, and three channels here are in Spanish. Some of their programming is aimed at children. My friend's daughter isn't watching, but someone is.
