Making a mint off the 9/11 dead

Yesterday, the New York Daily News wrote:
The hucksters who two years ago tried to peddle the fraudulent Freedom Tower Silver Dollar are back with an even more offensive scheme for trading on the memory of 9/11 for money. They go by the name of the National Collector's Mint of Port Chester, N.Y., and they're marketing a monstrosity called the 2001-2006 World Trade Center Commemorative over the Web and on late-night cable TV. You've got to see it to believe it.

I've seen this ad too, didn't pay much attention, and hope no one else does either. Just another way to milk money out of people. the American way, isn't it? Like all the hubbub over building a memorial at the WTC site. The most moving, and beautiful memorial I've seen were the simple, expressive twin beams of upward light, but noooooooooooooo! Somebody's gotta make millions.

The twin beams of light were beautiful and inspiring. But the neighbors made them turn the lights off. They didn't want the annoyance of the light.

I think Flight 93 is a different movie than United 93. We got Flight 93 and it was a movie from the A&E channel on dvd.

They have to ne making a lot of money. I see their damn ads continuously.
They may or may not be making a lot of money, but I once read (and anyone that knows for sure please confirm or deny) that a lot of the commercial like this on late night television is on a commission basis. That is the station or network will run the commercial for a piece of the action. The more often they are ran, the more the station can make.
The point being, those selling the product may not have put down any money up front.
One of the most perishable commodity in the world is the billable air time on network TV. Once that minute is gone, it is gone for good. So if you have not sold it, you may as well make deals. But like I said, this is smoking I read a very long time ago, and may no longer be true.
To: YaYa123
I think that the raw foundations where those buildings stood is the most fitting memorial. Put a fence up close by so people can leave memorials like they do in Oklahoma City, and leave it alone! Why try to make something that awful "beautiful". It loses it's meaning and memories.

My wife and I saw United 93, on April 28, the nigth it opened. Those forty angels fought to save their own lives and to see their families again. Any of us could have been on those planes or in those buildings. When the screen went black and the credits rolled, I thought of our troops and of what they will not leave to chance. The next day I saw thousands of antiwar protestors marching in Manhattan yesterday and wondered what they will do when evil returns to finish the job.

It's disturbing that Goldwater has sullied his family name by being associated with these charlatans.
To: Sergeant Tim
.....and wondered what they will do when evil returns to finish the job. 1.)The first thing they'll do is whine about not being safe
2.) Next they would want everyone to stop the world to "feel their pain"
3.) Contribute to their lifetime retirement for going through all of this.
etc. etc.

What the antiwar protestors will do.......why blame the President of course. The dems are constantly screaming that the President is now doing enough for homeland security.
Just listen to Tom Kean, that ba$tard, constantly complaining that the administration didn't take the advice of the commission.
Well, pardon my french, but to HELL with the commission and everyone on it.

I have heard from a very reliable source in the genuine numismatic community that Goldwater Jr. is one apple that fell very far from that tree.
I have also heard that the companies that sell these products are owned by just a few parent companies. If one gets busted for fraud, they can just shift operations to one of their other front companies.
If you buy one thing from these clowns, count on getting junk mail left and right offering more of these great "deals." My favorites are the "24-karat gold (plated)" coins. In real bullion value, this amount of gold = diddlysquat. You can get more gold digging the fillings out of your own mouth.
Buying coins from an ad in a magazine or from a tv commercial is a bad idea. Better to try your local coin shop or ebay.

Hey Luvy!
Stick to the United 93 out in Sept. It is very very good and as tough as it is, it is worth it. Very respectfully done, no b.s. and quite uplifting in the end, in a strictly substantive way. Don't hesitate to see it.
I saw it in the theater and will buy the DVD when I can.
