I oppose the war in Iraq too. "The war in Iraq" (if that's what it is - not sure I'd even call it a "war" at this point) is being waged by insurgents, terrorists, and infiltrators who insist on spending their time trying to blow people up. If they would stop, there would be no war to speak of. And I want them to stop. So, I "oppose the war".
Most people who say they "oppose the war" are really saying they oppose our military being present in Iraq. Interestingly, this would not make the war stop. So, people who supposedly "oppose the war" really don't oppose the war. They want it to continue.

Part of the problem we have has been the success of the war and America's ability to keep this overseas.
Out of sight, out of mind.
About the only thing people don't see everyday that they are still willing to believe is there would be air. A while ago you could have also added God to that statement, but I am not so sure a majority of Americans believe that anymore.

I would have opposed WWII - but that would not have stopped Hitler. Only the strength of our brave troops stopped him. Wanting peace is a good thing, but kicking the butts of the bad guys is the only way to get it sometimes. Evil must be fought and defeated, not wished away.
Without justice, there can be no peace. Without standing up to evil, there can be no justice.
To call liberalism a "philosophy" is an insult to the whole of philosophy.

Then.. "Sixty-one percent, however, said they believed at least some U.S. troops should be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of the year." The Article also says:
Only half the sample, or about 524 people, was asked the timetable question.
Makes one wonder which half was asked the question?

OK, let's work with these numbers. 72% of people supported the war when it was launched. They made their decision at the time and got what they wanted. Now they have second thoughts, but recognize we can't just pull out on the mission.
Hard to see the big problem with any of this. I assume the 72% accept responsibility for their decision.

could well be
note that a lot of democrats feel that Iraq is a side show and a waste of resources in the war on terror. alot said more resources should have been poured in, alot said get out and quit wasting resources. frankly i kinda agree, as a larger problem exists and has been allowed to grow for the last 30 years....
lets start by rephrasing the summary statement so its not as misleading

Two observations (in general support of your view):
Sixty-one percent, however, said they believed at least some U.S. troops should be withdrawn from Iraq by the end of the year. Of those, 26 percent said they would favor the withdrawal of all troops, while 35 percent said not all troops should be withdrawn. Another 34 percent said they believed the current level of troops in Iraq should be maintained. English translation: 69 percent don't oppose "cut and run".
In CNN-style opinion polls most Americans oppose drilling in ANWR and off the California and Florida coasts. However, in the same sort of polls they are also upset with the Federal Government over higher gas prices. Can you say "cognitive dissonance"?

MSM and polls....if they can't get their lies across, they take a poll so it looks like the average American agrees with them.
My poll story:
It was during the clinton impeachment. The phone rang and a female voice asked if I wanted to participate in a poll. I asked how long would it take?..she responded with approx. 6 mins. I agreed and we started
# 1..Do you think President Clinton's impeachment will hurt the US?
..My response..No
..in which she politely said Thank You and hung up
..all in about 22 seconds
if the interviewer does not get the correct response within the first three questions....your no longer a participant.
THEY HAVE TO GET "THE" PERCENTAGE

And a majority of poll respondents said they would support the withdrawal of at least some U.S. troops by the end of the year...I would certainly support such a withdrawal and hope for it - provided Iraquis are capable of defending and keeping peace for themselves - this war and people's reactions to it are much too complex to be simplified into a couple of unqualified poll questions, and the silliness is compounded by CNN's failure to publish the actual questions used and full data - more deceit for the masses from CNN.....

They can't even remember what year 911 was in.I hope we just dodged 9/11/2006... and that voters will remember this in November.

Hmmmm?? I caught a few clips of O'Reilly tonight, and he said that 60% of Americans DID NOT want to pull out of Iraq too early.
Maybe a lot of people are tired of the war and think it's going badly (thanks to the drive-by), but the very same amount seem to realize we have to stay with it until VICTORY!!

I am oppossed to the Iraq war as I believe Iraq is but a campaign within the Middle Eastern Theater of Operations in the Global War Against Islamic Extremeism.
