IN THE WEST, Qana, a small Lebanese village southeast of Tyre, is believed by some to be the place where Jesus performed his first miracle, turning water into wine. In Lebanon and throughout the wider Arab and Muslim world, however, the village's name has for the last decade been synonymous with something else: the killing in April 1996 of more than 100 men, women and children who had taken refuge in a U.N. compound, hiding from Israeli shelling directed at Hezbollah. Over time, Qana has been sculpted by Hezbollah into a symbol of martyrdom, a Shiite version of Sabra and Shatila.

Perhaps this Liberal idiot would like to get the facts straight before condemning Israel. But, when did the MSM ever care about the truth? No blame for the Hezzies is there?

Mr. Shatz has the right last name ,because he's certainly full of Shatz !!!

By Adam Shatz, ADAM SHATZ is literary editor of the Nation. Shatz should get the Noam Chomsky Award for the self-hating Jewish anti-Israeli rant of the day.

If "sorry" won't help, I would try "too bad, so sad"

If you harbor terrorists, you are as guilty as the people you harbor. It's just that simple. Don't like it, either kick them out, or get the hell out of the way.

I'll reserve smart-aleck comment on this one. This "journalist" needs to learn how to to research. OTOH, I have an opinion too, can I get paid for it?

I guess this writer hasn't heard that there were only a few dozen killed, and that it's likely the building came down 7 hours after the Israeli airstrike, likely because the Hezzies brought it down on the women and handicapped kids they brought in (and were they alive or dead when the Hezzy demons brought in the "victimes")?

Where is the condemnation of Hezbollah for setting up next to the UN or in hospitals or any other way to use innocents to shield themselves so they can shoot at Israel?
What this has shown anyone paying attention is that there is no more patient a country than Israel and that Hezbollah uses that to its advantage to kill Israelis.

It's Israel's fault!!!
Or, maybe, it's Bush's...

Is Israel's "accidental" violence against civilians somehow better, or more morally acceptable, than that of a Hamas suicide bomber who steps into a pizzeria seeking to kill civilians? Yes, dumbasss. Israel is deliberately targeting terrorists and sometimes hitting the WILLING human shields they hide behind. Hezbollah is deliberately targeting civilians and sometimes hitting a military target. That you need help with such moral equivalence explains alot about why your rag of a newspaper is in decline.

Civilians die in war.
There are some obscure small towns that suffered mild damage from bombs and rockets. London, Berlin, Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and a few others.
Estimated casualties were between 150 and 200 thousand.
