Conservative national security allies of President Bush are in revolt against Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, saying that she is incompetent and has reversed the administration’s national security and foreign policy agenda.
The conservatives, who include Newt Gingrich, Richard Perle and leading current and former members of the Pentagon and National Security Council, have urged the president to transfer Miss Rice out of the State Department and to an advisory role. They said Miss Rice, stemming from her lack of understanding of the Middle East, has misled the president on Iran and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
"The president has yet to understand that people make policy and not the other way around," a senior national security policy analyst said. "Unlike [former Secretary of State Colin] Powell, Condi is loyal to the president. She is just incompetent on most foreign policy issues."

In June 1999, she completed a six year tenure as Stanford University 's Provost, during which she was the institution's chief budget and academic officer. As Provost she was responsible for a $1.5 billion annual budget and the academic program involving 1,400 faculty members and 14,000 students.

You have to understand tha Condis success depends on setting up communication with adversaries. In her work she must play the art of compromise. That necessitates the image that everyone is criticizing.
As a long term professional scholar of international affairs she is well aware of diplomatic styles. What we have here is a female Henry Kissinger who is able to convince everyone that she is an all round "nice person" but she is a woman of iron will and steel. Note that world leaders seek her out and enjoy socializing with her. That is not treachery but it is skill.
What we see now is Condi Count Metternich style and you will see the iron core of her if that is necessary. She has a lot of power and has learned to weild it softly, confidentially and accurately. Her detractors are in dismay, because she is beginning to appear as if she might be presidential material. I believe she is, and more qualified for the job than Hillery Clinton ever will be.
So she needs space and support, not gimping from others who think they can walk in her shoes and dictate to that po' little black woman what she should do!
Her detractors are mental midgets compared to Ms. Rice.

I did some homework when I first found this thread. I saw that the originator is indeed a blogger and doesn't hide it.
I also saw that the original post is an article from Insight Magazine, which is a conservative site if you take a look at it and at who their contributors are. There is no author name credited in the link.
red meat conservative/Daniel then posted his comments in Reply #1 and then linked to his blog. Alas, he really started something but didn't come back to discuss further, which is either FR inexperience or just his "style."

I can't see much else in this article that would describe why anyone would advocate pulling the rug out from under our nations international plenipotentiary officer in the middle of a game that has nukes on both sides a few years down the road pal!

So Meat's diatribe about Condi and his facile Blogpimping has little intrinsic worth but to fan the flames of confusion about our nations chief plenipotentiary officer at a time when the team needs to be united. I think Condi is doing an admirable, skilful diplomatic job so far, all round. Meat is a headhunter and a pro Zionist who seems to want Pearlman to be Condi's stand in for a reoccupation of the 1967 boundary lands of Israel. Condi Discusses Israeli War on Foxnews Sec. of State Rice was just interviewed on Foxnews. On the positive side she once again definitively supported Israel while espousing the meaningless phrases of avoiding civilians just to placate the Europeans. On the other hand, she is still vociferously pushing for a Palestinian terror state even after everything that has happened?!! She made some disturbing references to "extreme elements of Hamas" numerous times. This means that she believes that there are moderate Hamas factions that can be legitimizing for the sole purpose of creating a state and cutting Israel in half!! Is there nothing that the Palestinian terrorist government and citizens can do that will convince her that the creation of the most violent terror state in the world will bring peril? Also, the Foxnews anchor kept hammering her about her tough talk on Syria and Iran and lack of deeds to back it up. She responded with the usual cliches and indecisive rhetoric that has become so typical of every beaurocrat. IMHO, the article is just a paragraph everyone has to read everytime they open the page, as if we can all get brainwashed if we hear the lies often enough, and is a fake.
You are implying that no good people can be in academia, which is wrong. Perhaps she could've been one?
The goal of the U.S. should be to preserve a strong Israel, as the defeat of terrorism is in the best interests of the Free World and -- indeed -- in the best interests of all Middle East nations that wish to survive and thrive ultimately in freedom. The preservation of Israel is also a stand against the genocide of any people.
So, it is U.S./Israel/Britain/Australia and ??? versus terrorism, and it is Freedom vs. Tyranny. We're also dealing with a time-warp, Medieval vs. 21st century.
Currently, Israel is doing everything right, within their rights, and the battle has just begun. My concern is that I do not want to see Israel make any more concessions that would hurt her. "To everything there is a time... " and I do not think it is time for peace.
It IS past time for Hamas to return Gilad Shalit, and past time for Hizb'Allah to return two more IDF troops. Shouldn't that be stressed of utmost importance?
SECSTATE is apparently making an unplanned return trip to the ME as we speak and we may soon hear developments.
Some people think of FR as a blog, because an article is posted and comments follow. But I think of it as a discussion forum where post-and-run is frowned on, but defending and explicating one's stand is respected, especially as done point by point.
