I think what she meant is that they were dropped from the "News" feed?
Take a close look at the top of the search results, see the link called, "News"? That link will take you to a news search of the search term you typed.
The sites listed in the "news" portion are monitored fairly heavily by Google. It's definitely a "human edited" set of results. There are guidelines that must be followed in order to have your website listed in the 'news' area and apparantly any type of 'hate speech' is disallowed by Google.
In short, she may have been dropped from the 'news' feed, but that wouldn't effect the 'organic results' for her website. (She really doesn't make it clear in the article, but that's my guess.)

What we can do is create a new search tool. Which is a project I am working on.
We are building a series of Portals easier to use than craigs list, and linked direct to sites oin one clik, without utilizing Google.
I will alert all Freepers when our Beta rolls out.

>>What do you use instead? Is it as good as Google? I ask because I use Google sometimes dozens of times in a day in the course of my work.<<
I saw a study where the majority of search requests from domains registered to Yahoo and Microsoft still come to google while almost 100% of requests from google offices go to google.
Its not a secret who has the best search.

Actually Google is in the Bay area between San Jose and San Fransisco. My daughters boyfriend works for them as a tech to help keep their servers up and running. Must be liberal bay area hate America first types from Google.

I have not been nice enough to those wonderful folks that brought us the Taliban and the weekly be-heading show.
Islam incessantly calls for the conquering of all the infidels, yet if someone incessantly fights back, they are judged not be inclusive enough of the good Islamists.

Wow, what an Undertaking, how often do you plan the crawl the web - and since the concerns are with google news will you do a seperate continuous news crawl the way they do? Or like Craig's list will the the be be user created?
Any way you look at it, it sounds like a really big deal -good luck. On the other hand, just a 25% share of craigslist sold for $1 billion.

As I wrote in an earlier column, I don't DO Google, period.
Why would I support a company who supports censorship, intimidation and most importantly, a world view that favors our enemies?
*Full disclosure alert* The New Media Journal is my Publisher.
That being said, I wonder how much longer Bloggers hosted by Google will be
allowed to publish criticism of Islam.
Blogger.com is in fact owned by Google and I believe this is the Canary in the Coal Mine as far as free speech and Google is concerned.
"First do no evil" is a catchy slogan, sadly however, when Google sees dollars, those vaunted principals seem to fly right out the window.
If I go down, I will go down swinging.
Cheers,

"free" searches would only help the NY Slimes, as it would make them appear more popular and allow them to charge more to advertisers.
"Paid" ad words such as clicking on the small "sponsor" ads at the top or to the right will be charged to the advertiser - don't know if NY Times takes a lot of those ads or not - but if the same people click the same ad repeatedly it is click fraud and Google is supposed to try to monitor that (how well they do so I couldn't tell you).
Bottom line, trying to cost someone money by clicking their web ads numerous times is fraudulent and should not be done by honest people, not even against an entity as despicable as the NY SLimes (there are honest ways to combat them).

Why should she be clear?
By appealing to Google
hate paranoia
she gets attention.
Now, that's the name of the game.
Who cares what is "true?"
