AND, they're also BIG democrat political donors.
Look up the names of the leaders of your state's tobaccophobic entity (usually called, "Coalitions") and run them through the FEC website. For example, the leader of Colorado's tobaccophobic club (Stephanie Steinberg) and it revealed that she donates to democrats. ONLY democrats.
Yet there's people blaming the passing of the current antismoking law here on republicans.
Bless his heart!!!!!!!!
Hey! I died of second hand smoke! Well, ah, I got better.
Those cold t urkeys can be pretty effective at times.
"Yet there's people blaming the passing of the current antismoking law here on republicans."
Here that is the case (the reps make the anti-smoking laws) and the Dems are the ones who fight against anti-smoking laws. Kind of ironic I guess.
Hey! I died of second hand smoke! Well, ah, I got better.
And you probably learned about it third hand.
"Today, I will smoke in their rooms, and there is nothing that they can do about it!"
II appreciate the smokng threads that Gabz pings. It gives me a different perspective as a nonsmoker. I am generally against rampant anti-smoking laws. However, I will say that as a nonsmoker, I cannot stand the smell of smoke in a room (but then there are other smells to worry about too). I CAN stand the person who is smoking and not blowing it in my face.
Just saying two bits is all.
They can and will toss you out.........as they well should. Their property - their rules. If you don't like the rules, don't go there.
This is not the government making this decision for Marriot, it is the Marriot corp making a business decision.
This is what we have been saying for years.
I've got a 25pounder in the freezer that will be very effective - upside the head of the next anti-smoker/nanny-statist that gets in my face.
It is when the government uses tax money to buy the smoking cessation treatments and then hands them out for free to anybody who wants them. The pool will never dry up and the fraud and abuse of tax payer money means everybody connected to the program gets rich.
That is currently the situation in Bloomberg's New York City.
Went through the same thing in Delaware, and am now dealing with it in Virginia - it's the Republicans pushing for it and the Democrats opposing it.
Unfortunately, the smoke gnatzies will ignore any connection to money. They have become convinced, if not misled, that second hand smoke is really killing thousands a day.
Studies mean nothing, unless it's one that the findings are pre-determined against tobacco.
Welcome to the early days of the Union of Socialist States of America.
Today, you no longer have that choice. In the past, people respected each other and smokers confined themselves to the designated smoking rooms.
That is no longer an option, so today, all rooms are now "smoking rooms" and there is not a damn thing that you can do about it.
Respect for each other, must always work both ways!
Since the anti-smokers have abused their side of the bargain, then all compromises between the two sides are no longer valid.
The next time that you smell smoke in your motel room, you can probably thank me!
There's a reason I try to always stay on your safe side. :)
Makes you wonder sometimes.
It sure as heck does.
I will no longer respect non-smokers. I can and WILL smoke anywhere that I darn well please.
If they authorize the usage of deadly force to prevent my smoking, then I will use deadly force also.
It is a crying shame, since only a few years ago, Americans respected each other.
I think you do make a point. I have seen disrespect on both sides, but I saw nothng wrong with the way things were before. I can understand some places, but completely banning smoking in places like bars and private clubs is just plain stupid.
Maybe someone switched their nametags.
