The media will manufacture another Katrina, but we all know the State Department IS filled with bumbling bureaucrats who probably can't effect a fire drill evacuation, let alone tens of thousands of citizens in a war zone.
"lousy service"?
So now the U.S government is a transportation provider?
I guess they won't leave a tip...
Is it me or am I missing the sympathy gene when I hear people calling themselves 'Lebanese-Americans' THEN... bitching that the US is not getting them out of the country they always put first?????
Pres. Genna Davis would have sent the Marines in by now.
Love the tag. But tell me: What the heck were they doing over there?
"I said a "huge majority," not "all." Sheesh."
Oh, I know. But truthfully, everyone I know trapped there (and that's probably only 25 people, but likely more than most others here on FR) whether Lebanese or Greek Americans are all anti-Hiz Christians. Then again, I don't move in Mohammaden circles! :)
Bingo!
WTH are you people doing there? Don't blame us. You went there.
May I suggest Bosnia or Kosovo?
Probably. I can't keep my "Dead Everest Climbers" straight.
Or Detroit?
Nance, Bush didn't pass the law, you did. Instead of trying to place the blame where it doesn't belong, how about...uh, look, it's kind of a strange concept...FIXING it?
ROFLOL
He's supposed to be welcoming all these stranded folks aboard the Disney Cruise Ship and pointing out all the sites along the way.
The French probably had inside advanced information about Hezbollah's kidnapping plans.
I am so bloody sick of these whiners! Find your own way out or don't go to a volatile place like Lebanon in the first place.
Most of them are dual-citizenship muslims who favor Hezbollah. Let them stay there.
Don'tspeak4me either American in Tokyo! Haa!
" Love the tag."\
Thanks!

The parents are immigrants; came here about 20 years ago and became American citizens. They have a very successful business, with perhaps 12 native born American employees and a beautiful home. They are very involved in both civic and church affairs in our community. Since the pullout of the Syrians, they have constructed a house in their home village because they felt things had calmed down enough to be planning on annual summer vacations there. They went over about three weeks ago planning to put the finishing touches on the house and wrap up any remaining financial matters involving the house. Apparently it was bad planning all the way around.
I understand that they are now with relatives in the Christian section of Beirut and have registered for evacuation with the Embassy. They are reporting as of yesterday that the Embassy personnel have been very nice but had little information about what to do or when they might be evacuated. They also commented that it was hard to get through to the embassy by phone. The only other comment was that the children are scared by the sound of the bombs going off.
Damn straight! :)
