Weekend Talk Show *Preview* for 7/8 and 7/9/06 (not the live thread)

The main message is the Sunday Shows and message 1 will be the Saturday Shows,  then I'll post the ping list.  I've changed the format as a test this week and put the links to articles and background on the guests in with their listing in the shows.  It struck me that it might have been getting less helpful to have to jump back and forth.  Let me know which format works better.

ABC This Week (George Stephanopoulos)

CBS Face The Nation (Bob Schieffer)

CNN Late Edition (Wolf Blitzer)

Fox News Sunday (Chris Wallace)

NBC Meet The Press (Tim Russert)

This is NOT intended to be the live Sunday Morning Talk Show thread. I trust AB will do that as usual. This is strictly a preview of who will be on the main shows. The idea is to give folks a chance to muster their resources for that thread.

I would particularly ask that anyone with specific knowledge or resources about the topics / guests announced for these shows post them here so that the rest of us can go into the shows with a heads up on what to look for.

The Weekend Preview Thread is up

If you would like on or off my ping list please Freepmail me

The forces of the Old Empire are desperately trying to cover for their god, Bill Clinton, and are trying to make sure that no one remembers that he made lil Kim's nuclear missile's possible via mad Maddy Albright and Jimmy Carter giving us yet another "peace in our time" agreement.  Will they never learn?  Well, no.  It's obvious Jimmah is totally lost in fantasy land, but Maddy and her myrmidons still seem to have this depressed and increasingly desperate grasp of reality and boy, does it appear that it scares the hell out of them!

The most interesting guest for me this week will be Nicholas Burns.  He's a new face and voice for the administration on foreign policy, at least as far as these shows go, and he's doing the grand rounds.  It looks like he could be being prepped to become a major public player for the Bush administration.  Is this more of Tony Snow's influence over communications policy?  Richardson, Ashton Carter, Gallucci, and particularly Wendy Sherman of the "blame Bush not Clinton" crowd are really getting embarrassing.  Brzezinski and Haig are has been wanna be's who really "never were" in international relations.  They either demonstrably screwed things up or just had no meaningful effect whatsoever, except from our enemies perspectives.  Truly sad.  I bet Bergen and Beinart are going to emerge as the new "wunderkinds" of the left with "all the answers" for what's wrong with Bush's policies.  McCain, Graham, Boxer, Dodd and Lugar are the "also ran" or "never were" candidates that the media keep pushing like the proverbial dead horses they are.  And I'm willing to bet that they don't let Hoekstra get too vocal about the WMD found in Iraq, even on Fox.  Even if he does it will be ignored.

The dominant meme appears to be that, no matter what anyone says it's not Clinton's fault.  They appear to be pulling out all the stops to make that case.  Now THAT is truly interesting.  This may mark the turning point from offense to defense for the drive by media.  Up till now I've been predicting a Republican pick up of 8 plus seats in the House and 3 plus seats in the Senate, mostly out of pure cussidness over the hysteric predictions of a Democrat sweep.  I'm now beginning to ponder a Republican landslide.  Dare we consider a Republican super majority in both the House and Senate?

Oooooooo.  Tingly!

I have never, ever, ever, heard such revisionist history in my whole life as I've heard in the last few days regarding Clinton and North Korea.

And shame on the reporters who haven't done their homework and let the leftist lies stand as truth.

I have started a new blog at the "new" Townhall.COM. I have posted a copy of the Sunday Show portion of this thread there as an experiment and have sent a ping to Hugh Hewitt, who is acting as "managing editor" for the new site. I specifically provided a link back to this thread and also provided a promo for the excellent Sunday Morning thread. Please be aware that this may generate extra traffic for us, which I hope will be positive, but I'm aware that this may also generate more traffic (and attacks) from the moonbats.

I'm doing this as an experiment and will monitor the threads to see if I've screwed up. Please be careful and don't let anything I've done give you problems. If this causes any problems I'll never do it again.

The blog is at http://wizards.townhall.com/

How disappointing, I was looking so forward to John Murtha filling the airwaves this weekend. Maybe he's off somewhere with Cindy. :D

Actually, I think I heard that Biden is in Iraq right now...NOT seeing any improvements...but seeing LOTS of bad, bad things. (but no Indians)...LOL

Sorry I got here late..have the baby for the night.

Okay, I have so many things that I have seen/heard over the last few days, that I haven't found the correct thread to post them on...that I will probably post some of them here...but probably not tonight.

I did make a mental note that once again, MTP has NO true Republican representation, except Nicholas Burns, and I have a feeling HE is not going to slap down the LIES being told about how Bush has handled N. Korea....or how Clinton handled North Korea.

Even if he did...Timmy wouldn't listen.

I have noted the increased insistence that none of this is Bill CLinton's fault. I fully expect Clinton to throw Maddy Albright under the train any day now....saying that it was all HER idea to deal with North Korea.

Mark Kilmer has posted his preview over at RedState.COM:

The Sunday Shows - preview

For Sunday, July 9, 2006

Meet the Press (NBC): Host Tim Russert will start at 8a in some regions (read: mine) because of Wimbledon. Russert talks first to Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Nicholas Burns about the problem with the fellow with the hairdo we all seek to emulate: North Korea's Dear Leader and despot, Kim Jong Il. And because he never trusts a Bushie, he'll talk about North Korea with the MSM's expert on all and sundry, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson ('08).

FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace will ask how the United States should respond. He'll ask Burns, Pete Hoekstra (R-Michigan), former Clinton DCI James Woolsey, and Ambassador Wendy Sherman, a Bill Clinton/Madeline Albright type.

Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer will talk North Korea with John McCain ('08) and Chris Dodd ('08), two folks who'd very much like to be POTUS.

This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos talks to North Korea with Dick Lugar. Then Steph reports from Virginia on Allen ('08) vs. Webb.

Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer speaks to Burns, Lindsey Graham and Babs Boxer, Iraqi ambassador to the United States Samir Sumaidaie, and the man I support for the '08 GOP nomination, Al Haig.
-----

It seems the Administration has given up on Steph, or maybe Nick Burns is too busy and the WH realizes that the only people who watch Steph would likely call him a Lieberman-worshipping neocon. I'm interested in what Chairman Hoekstra has to offer.

A quick count shows, including the hosts, ten Bushies and seven Lieberman-worshipping neocons.

I wonder if Chris Wallace will ask Hoekstra about THIS.

BTW...Cal Thomas made the ONE cogent remark on Newswatch tonight.

When discussing Bill Keller's appearance on FTN last week...when Keller was talking about how "this Administration is the most secretive of all..."...

Keller is definitely the pot calling he kettle black...because his paper NEVER reveals sources..and even had a reporter go to prison to HIDE THEIR SECRETS...

Oh, and I heard Cal on Fox News Dayside program the other day...and I guess he and Bob Beckel have written a book together...oh joy.

I would be surprised if he did not. Why am I getting the feeling that things are just spinning out of control?

Maybe because they are...

It is like you can't tell the "good guys" from the "bad guys"...and I don't mean other countries.

Notice this is another "leak" by the NYTimes--the letter and such.

AND...just the fact that aides were talking to this reporter, the letter made it to the TIMES..and therefore to the international public..

I find it ironic that Hoekstra's complaint is Bush's supposed "secrecy" with Congress..do ya blame him PETE????
