'Treason' Cartoon Draws Strong Reaction [Ex-publisher in FL blasts an anti-NYT cartoon]

NEW YORK A number of Tallahassee (Fla.) Democrat readers were upset with a cartoon saying that The New York Times' motto is "All the Treason Fit to Print."
The June 28 cartoon was by Mike Lester of the Rome (Ga.) News-Tribune and Cagle Cartoons.
Lester drew Uncle Sam holding a copy of the Times that featured a front page with the headline "All the Treason Fit to Print" and the subhead "U.S. Anti-Terror Program: Details Inside." Uncle Sam says "I hate getting American soldiers' blood on my fingers," as his hand drips red.
Democrat Associate Editor Mark Hohmeister, in a piece posted today on Tallahassee.com, said he chose to publish the cartoon even though he didn't agree with it. He added that the letter that "really gave me second thoughts" was from former Democrat Publisher Carrol Dadisman, who wrote: "In more than 50 years of various responsibilities for newspapers and editorial pages, I've defended a lot of editorial cartoons. But this one is indefensible."

...former [Tallahassee Democrat Newspaper] Publisher Carrol Dadisman [wrote]: "In more than 50 years of various responsibilities for newspapers and editorial pages, I've defended a lot of editorial cartoons. But this one is indefensible."
You are incorrect, Carroll Dadisman -- no editorial cartoon is "indefensible." Just ask the artist who drew it.

What happened to the "Art should shock" crowd? How about "Political cartoons can make us ask ourselves the 'hard questions' that sometimes make us uncomfortable".
Compare the MSM dweeb reactions to their reactions to the abominable cartoons that ran in the Atlanta Urinal & Constipation.

BTW, I like Freedom of the Press -- but I think the NYT has a different agenda than what it claims. And, that is the real problem. I guess I could scream "FIRE" in a theater and defend it by saying anyone has the right to exercise their healthy lungs. Or something like that.

True -- some people will defend cow feces on a painting pretty quickly, as I recall. And, while I do not like such a painting, I will defend people's right to still go to that museum. However I find it hard to defend the NYT sometimes. Like now.

The truth sure hurts these people. And well it should.
The fire the cartoon is drawing from these left-wing moonbats and their anti-american activities means the cartoon is spot on target. The cartoonist should now simply fire for effect.

Are you kidding me? Wow, we really DO have these people on the defensive and completely losing their marbles! I don't believe I've ever seen an editor or associate editor of a newspaper come right out and declare their affiliated political party and expose (in their own words), their bias! At least this dufus is honest about being a democrat political hack!

The newspaper is called the "Tallahassee Democrat" and that is just an abbreviation of the newspaper. I think you are misreading it. Up to a point perhaps. :)

It's all depends on whose Ox is gored....
The cartoon is dead on...
The NYSlimes is GUILTY by any criteria one wishes to use...
Treason is the crime....TREASON is the charge.
And -- the NYT is not the only entity guilty...
I can think of a couple of SENATORS, CONGRESS CRITTERS and Networks who deserve the scrutiny of an investigation..
REMEMBER.... "It's the SERIOUSNESS of the charge that counts, not the facts or evidence"...
REMEMBER -- that's what the leftist pukes recite like sock puppets when they feel the urge to accuse and investigate.

Years ago when I was in the seafood importing business, I was attending the National Fisheries Institute convention in San Diego, and the news broke that Reagan had Alzheimer's.
I brought it up at the cocktail reception and one guy - who was a big, big customer - cracked that "it couldn't happen to a nicer guy"..he's a notorious liberal.
He never knew it, but for my remaining years in dealing with him, his big phocking mouth cost him literally tens of thousands of dollars in upcharges.

If EVER there was a cartoon which could be conceived as "INDEFENSIBLE," it is this one.

Curious what this cretin's reaction was to the libel of the Swift Boat Vets by that Leftist cartoonist in 2004? You know, Olipant, who drew a cartoon claiming the Vets were a bunch of Rear Echelon types who never saw combat. It was especially offensive when you knew the member of Swift Boat Vets for Truth included holders of dozens of awards for valor including a Medal Of Honor winner.
Doubtlessly this loser saw NO problem with THAT cartoon being published.

Well, something's weird. A cartoon that I don't even find controversial is giving the left fits.
And I do cringe at some right-wing stuff, especially when it's portrayed in an editorial cartoon in the most demeaning manner.
I think the left can't stand criticism. That's why they invented PC speak to stifle speech.
This cartoon was tame. I think they squeal loudest when the truth hits home.

the first to scream for a selective Censorship when the light of truth is shined on them.
It is also quite interesting to me to see what the NYT will NOT publish. In recent times I have written to Bill Keller when he was taking public questions to ask him why teachers are never allowed to write for their education column. That question of mine was never even posted nor asked of him.
I also once wrote and submittd an op-ed piece for the NYT, explaining to them how a full page ad they ran (twice) was actually bogus, and how it helped caused an American company to be taken over by a foreign entity. They ignored that bit of information, too.
So, it has become more intereting to me, in recent times, to see how selective they are with what they see as "fit" to print -- and what is not fit to print. In short, teachers' thoughts are not fit to print; and, the truth about false ads they publish is also unfit for print.

Politically obscene and unspeakably loathesome cartoons are daily grist for the liberal mill. Do liberals raise their voices in concern? Hardly. They whistle while they work.
But publish one cartoon condemning a noisome and dispicable act of treason by the left's favorite mouthpiece, the NYT, and you can hear the shrieks of righteous indignation ring out round the planet.

Liberals like to "dish it out" but they can't take it when the same tactics are used on them. They better grow thick hides before the next election as turnabout is more than fair play.

Mr. Dadisman is apparently afraid of freedom of the press. Probably because someone had the temerity to disagree with him. Typical of the Left in general. They can write and draw all kinds of scurrilous and obnoxious things about their political opposition. But let something get published that they don't like, and they act outraged. Like Mr. Dadisman, who is afraid there are people who will agree with the cartoonist.
