AP Blog: Al-Qaida Cameraman Speaks [Zawahiri's As-Sahab Cameraman]
Associated Press ^ | June 29, 2006 | Kathy Gannon

This day I am going to meet a wanted man by the name of Qari Mohammed Yusuf. He is a cameraman for al-Qaida's production company called As Sahab or The Cloud. He's wanted by the Afghan government.

Jamal Mutalab Beg, police chief in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province until last month, confirmed his identity and said he is being hunted by his government, which believes Yusuf tried to carry out acts of sabotage last year. The former police chief also confirms Yusuf's family details. He is the youngest of five brothers. His eldest brothers are all dead.

Two died fighting with Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, who was a U.S.-backed resistance fighter in the 1980s and today is a wanted terrorist. The other two died fighting with the Taliban, and they had been close to Ayman al-Zawahri, Osama bin Laden's No. 2 man. Yusuf's eldest brother played a particularly important role for al-Qaida, having been a liaison of sorts between Tajik and Uzbek militants and the Taliban, helping the Central Asian fighters to make their way to other parts of Afghanistan. Yusuf's family, although ethnic Pashtuns, like most Taliban, are from northern Afghanistan.

It has taken me a month of pleading and searching and pleading some more for a link to As Sahab with old contacts who still maintain close ties to Hekmatyar.

Hekmatyar has always been close to those Arab militants who answered the call to fight the communist Red Army. Those contacts are still solid today.

The pleading finally paid off.

Past threads here have suggested that quite a few of AP's cameramen are themselves terrorists. There is no other way to explain how they just happened to be there when groups of terrorists murdered civilians or fired off rockets at allied forces, yet were not harmed.

From the top down, AP is itself a terrorist propaganda organization. It's clear that they sympathize more with terrorists than with the United States.

I wonder if this chick wears a burka. I can't imagine a reporter meeting terrorists alone in Pakistan.

I stated this some years ago to a "free press" sympathetic friend. I think he has seen the light.

Hay, stop the war, I want to do a live interview report.

To bad that the auto interview was not targeted by surveillance UAV and blown to smithereens.
