Denice Dee Denton, chancellor of the University of California-Santa Cruz, apparently jumped to her death Saturday morning from the 44th floor of a San Francisco building where she shared an apartment with her partner... The nationally recognized educator had been in the eye of controversy since she arrived at UC-Santa Cruz less than a year and a half ago. But Denton had been under fire almost since the day she was named to the Santa Cruz post in December 2004 at a salary of $275,000... The UC system did not initially reveal it had also hired Kalonji to a newly created position in the UC Office of the President that paid $192,000 annually, which angered employee unions. Kalonji, also an engineering professor, came with Denton from the University of Washington, where they had worked together...

There is a difference. The other article says it was the 43rd floor, not 44th.

I have yet to meet one lesbian that is sane. What is scary is the number of lesbians involved in the education system, particularly the mental health services provided to the elementary schools systems.

Make that "lesbian" homosexual and I'll agree with you. I've met some nice gay people (on the surface) but they all seem to have a screw loose.

Denton had called campus police a few times after protesters camped out on the grounds around her house, said Santa Cruz City Councilman Mike Rotkin, a lecturer at the school. She asked for increased security after someone threw a parking barricade through a picture window at her university home. How ironic. Liberals who work to tear down society's norms, including good manners and dignified behavior, are always surprised when they become the victims of the very people who have adopted their credos. Liberals always expect to be immune from the consequences of their advocacy.

Sad case..... aside from the obvious corruption with the $190K position for her 'partner' it sounds like most of the pressure on her was coming from the far-left loonies who were harassing her constantly:
"on campus, she had been the target of many protests, students said, with protesters rallying against everything from employee wages on campus to workplace conditions in foreign countries where UC apparel is made. Denton had called campus police a few times after protesters camped out on the grounds around her house, said Santa Cruz City Councilman Mike Rotkin, a lecturer at the school. She asked for increased security after someone threw a parking barricade through a picture window at her university home. ``I don't think she was worried or afraid about a particular person,'' he said, ``but I think she felt personally threatened by it.'' After one recent event in which students surrounded her car and performed a five-minute play in support of workers and students of color, she seemed to grow increasingly fearful, said Josh Sonnenfeld, a student organizer."

The UC system did not initially reveal it had also hired Kalonji to a newly created position in the UC Office of the President that paid $192,000 annually, which angered employee unions. So, her REAL crime was to anger the employee unions. She should have squared it with them, and she would have been OK. Certainly Arnold wouldn't have done anything about it, or Bill Lockyer.

When I was in an Ivy League graduate program the worst people I ever met were total psycho-witches from the Graduate School of Education who aggressively pushed their militant lesbo-Nazi-feminism down everyone's throat..... two of them went on to prominent positions in the state's Dept. of Education, naturally.
One lesbian I knew then who was not a psycho-witch suprised me by saying that she thought a lot of the worst behavior from very aggressive, very 'out' and activist, promiscuous gays and lesbians was a result of the guilt they felt at their OWN doubts that their behavior was moral and rational. I would not have been the least bit surprised to hear that comment from any conservative, but I was surprised to hear it from an academic lesbian who simply declined (in private only) to support the more egregious words and behaviors of her 'fellow' lesbians and gays........

You wonder why she did it. There was nothing secret about her sexual preferences. The no show job for her lover would have been a messy business but it wouldn't have likely destroyed her career in fact with a bit of spin management and some public mea culpa at worse it would have dented her standing not ruined it and at best she would have come through with no damage. Why kill yourself? Is this just the piece of the ice berg above the water and there is a lot more about corrupt contracts and peculation of public funds that she feared would emerge?

The story is strange, to say the least. Her mom was in the building (how horrible for her!), and the students at the school had protested this particular professor (she had somehow become a target). It sounds like everything she had worked for had come back to haunt her. Such a waste of God-given talent.
Another poster said they wish she had had a year or so of conservative thought as her personal challenge; I wish she had turned to God and accepted His mercy. May He have mercy on her now!

That's right, and the points don't matter. Just like celibacy in a homosexual/lesbian relationship.

Ironic indeed. She was not PC enough. The extreme left eats its own. On a related issue, I sometimes think the leftists know that Hillary is putting on an act of being more to the center in order to get elected president and that they will overlook that to get her in the White House. But maybe not.
