A teacher at a Chevy Chase day-care center was arrested over the weekend for allegedly fondling a 14-year-old male in a restroom stall at a Rockville bookstore, Montgomery County police said yesterday.

John P. Salinas, 37, of Silver Spring was charged with attempted third-degree sex offense and fourth-degree sex offense following an alleged May 20 incident in which he forcibly pulled down the pants and underwear of a teenager who was using the restroom at the Barnes & Noble store on Rockville Pike.

Actually, you are presumed innocent by the courts until proven guilty in a court of law. If you are guilty, you are guilty. The courts just assume you innocent until the trial is over.

Remember, "Not Guilty" is a legal term and being found such does not make you innocent.

Still, I know what you mean, just a personal pet peeve of mine.

Well, no worries about this Daycare/After School School because it has a wonderful scholarship program, which makes the experience available for all kids.

The Scholarship program is funded in part by United Way. I do not know if United Way receives any Federal Funds, but wouldn't that just be the icing on the cake if it did receive tax dollars? /sarcasm

Scholarship Fund

The primary sources of funding for the scholarship program include our Annual Drive, community events, grants from the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC #7027) and United Way Campaign, foundation grants, and donations of enrollment deposits.

How the Scholarship Program Works

The Scholarship Fund is available to all families who have children enrolled in ASAD programs.

  • Parents should apply for the scholarship fund program by June 1, for the upcoming school year. Once the school year has begun, applications will be accepted at any time.
  • Applications maybe obtained from the Program Director at each site or the main office.
  • The completed applications are submitted to the Executive Director and confidentially reviewed by the scholarship committee.
  • Each application is individually considered using criterion that includes household income, family expenses, dept and any other unique circumstances.
  • Decisions are made within 4 weeks of receipt of the application.
  • Tuition assistance ranges from 10% to 75%, depending upon need.
  • Scholarships are made without regard to race, creed, color, family composition, gender, age, religion, national origin, citizenship, sexual orientation, and physical or mental handicap.

Why the Fund is Important

The Scholarship Fund is vital to ASAD and the community because it:

  • provides for accessibility to our programs,
  • allows every family in our programs access to support in the event of an unexpected financial crisis,
  • ensures economic diversity,
  • furthers our founding mission.

All Saints' All Day is committed to making a difference in our community. It is our mission to provide programs that are accessible and affordable to as many families as possible. The Scholarship Fund ensures that families have access to the quality child care.

Remember the McMartin Preschool case?

Yes. I also remember the OJ Simpson case. I am not sure what I think about McMartin. Being found not guilty doesn't necessarily mean one is.

All Saints All Day Child Care Center, (ASAD) originally began as an outreach of All Saints Episcopal Church, Chevy Chase Maryland and is the alleged perpetrator's employer.

ASAD has become a privately incorporated, secular, and nonprofit organization which prides itself on tolerance of all lifestyles.

ASAD offers child care from preschool to school age, presumably including the age of the 14 year old alleged victim.

Tax dollars may be helping fund this educational experience for children.

"...We expect staff at ASAD to respect and acknowledge the diversity of: family composition, race, gender, religion, culture, intellectual and physical ability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, beliefs, values, age and temperament of other staff members and the families that we serve..." (Emphasis added.)

Read about this non-profit school's scholarship program for the kids, ages pre-school to school age, which appears to include fourteen year old boys, the age of the "alleged" victim.

The more I read about this the more upsetting the story becomes.

And then I remembered hearing that Pee Wee Herman's Playhouse has returned.

Mass amnesia or what we don't remember won't hurt us?

If you read the history of the sosad day care you will note they were started by a church then went secular (I am not sure who went secular first - the day care or the church)

Yet another example of what those who receive "Tolerance" do with that "Tolerance."

Yes, I noticed that the "school" began as an outreach of a church, sadly, a church within a denomination which has been in the news a lot lately.

Remember the McMartin Preschool case?

What was the name of the movie they made about that? We had an even worse case in Wenatchee Washington a few years later, documented here (I met a couple of these folks some years after).
