Papers Show 'Gloomy State" of Insurgency

Papers show 'gloomy' state of insurgency AP - 23 minutes ago BAGHDAD, Iraq - A blueprint for trying to start a war between the United States and Iran was among a "huge treasure" of documents found in the hideout of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Iraqi officials said Thursday. The document, purporting to reflect al-Qaida policy and its cooperation with groups loyal to ousted President Saddam Hussein, also appear to show that the insurgency in Iraq was weakening. The al-Qaida in Iraq document was translated and released by Iraqi National Security Adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie. There was no way to independently confirm the authenticity of the information attributed to al-Qaida.

I'm surprised that AP didn't throw in another 'yes, but' line of "al-Zarqawi was not available to confirm or deny the veracity of these documents."

The interesting thing is that Zarqawi realized the importance of time - the more time the Iraqi government has time to set up shop and organize and train security personnel, the worse it is for the terrorists.

The MSM preach the opposite.

I believe it when I see it. With this administration, I wouldn't put it past them to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

So basically CzarCowEeee was saying to BenLouden that despite his earlier intelligence, he had been wrong and the Americans did have Weapons of Staggering Destruction and his band of foreign terrorists, despite some being trained in Iraq, were in over their head and becoming lost in a QUAGMIRE.

Don't let the left lie about Saddam's ties to AQ:

Osama bin-Laden's "day care centers" statement has always bothered me. The very idea that the patriarchal Islamic fundamentalists would sponsor a day care so mommy Fatima could go off to her rewarding career in the business world is totally ludicrous. That is about as likely to happen as an Islamic home for unwed mothers!!!

These documents are "cased closed" regarding any need for analysis on if/how effecitve we (U.S.) have been in Iraq / WOT -

It simply shows the reality that we are winning this WOT plain and simple (yet the DEMs and MSM try and daily paint a lying picture of doom and gloom).

Hell the headline associated with this article is trying to paint a confusing picture for the average reader. Not clearly stating that it is the insurgency itself that is losing.

As I see it, the following statements have now been debunked. If I'm wrong, correct me. If these statements are, in fact, "no longer operative," then the MSM has a lot of recalibratin' ta do:

Saddam had no connections to terrorism pre-US invasion

Al Qaeda was not operational in Iraq pre-US invasion

The US mission in Iraq is failing to deliver a democratically-elected government in Iraq

Iraq cannot field substantial numbers of security troops

The invasion of Iraq is not helping protect the US from terrorists, rather it is hurting those efforts

Al Qaeda is winning; we have lost blood and treasure for nothing

Invading Iraq was all about oil

Middle Eastern countries can't handle anything other than Saddam-like dictatorships

Only the UN, and certainly not the US alone, can bring order to Iraq

I'm not trying to overstate our successes or diminish the work to be done. I'm just saying that apparently the MSM have been taken by surprise, when they were supposed to be objectively monitoring the situation there.

Too bad they didn't give our Marines at least this much benefit of the doubt. But, there they are again....carrying water for the insurgents. Making sure the readers know this could be propaganda.

This defensiveness on the media's part tells me one thing: they know that the US is winning this war and that the terrorists are slowly being ground down to nothing.

Just the fact that Zarqawi was betrayed by one of his own says that the terrorists have a significant segment who no longer believe they can win.

And that is the best definition of victory: when the new government is established in the minds of the Iraqis.

I'm not trying to overstate our successes or diminish the work to be done.

Things are definitely looking far better than the MSM are reporting.

The announcement by Maliki of a possible amnesty can help the situation with not only getting some insurgents to lay down their weapons but take away any excuses later from those who continue to fight.

Yesterday at the President's news conference he mentioned that Maliki was going to enforce the weapons ban in Baghdad, that's the only mention I've heard of it. MSM didn't want to play that up I guess.

So I guess when we finally start pulling troops out it will be the story after the second station break for the evening news?

My point in posting this is that the MSM have been caught with their agenda sticking out, once again. I don't think most people care because I don't think they trust the media to portray the news accurately.

But in the long run I think this helps Bush and the Republicans, as things they claim are becoming obvious to even the densest DUmmie. (Which of course makes them hate Bush more.)

hheheheeh. That's Bush. The Democrats would have us believe that he is a dolt and at the same time a man capable of duping them - the smartest people in the world (self-proclaimed, of course) - into voting for the war.

Bush even tricked a huge number of them in to saying that Saddam had WMD before he was elected, or at least that's how they tell it. Then, in a most unusual case of collective amnesia, they forgot their own words and blamed that stupid Bush for saying exactly what they'd been saying, and they said he lied when he said it. Ya can't make this stuff up. But don't expect the MSM to notice how weird the Left is.
