Senator Dick Durbin waiting for soldiers to die.
Congressional Record ^

| Senator Dick Durbin

This morning's newspaper informs us that we have lost 2,493 of our best and bravest young men and women serving this United States in Iraq. I asked a member of my staff to check when we lost 2,000 soldiers, and the date was October 25 of last year. It appears that in a very short period of time, we will pass the 2,500 mark. At the time that we recorded the 2,000th military death in Iraq, I asked, along with other Senators, for a moment of silence on the floor of the U.S. Senate to acknowledge their great contribution to our country and in respect for their memory. When the time comes that 2,500 have given their lives, I will make that same unanimous consent request. Since there are no Republican Senators on the floor at this moment, I won't make it at this time, but I want the majority to know that I think, on a bipartisan basis, Senators from both parties should come to the floor when we have recorded the 2,500th death in Iraq and observe a moment of silence in memory of our fallen warriors and in prayer for their families whose lives will never be the same because of their loss.

Yesterday Senator Durbin stood on the floor of the Senate to inform us there have been 2,493 deaths of our military in Iraq.
He further (no doubt in anticipatory glee) said he will call for a moment of silence in the Senate when the death of # 2,500 is announced.
How much clearer can he be? It appears he cannot wait for this event- he is already planning for the political impact, and looking forward to exploit it to his aims.
Imagine, if you can, being a GI in Iraq today. Imagine hearing that a senator from your country is counting the days til the death of your 2,500th comrade.
If anyone else finds this gesture on the part of Senator Durbin to be as gruesome and disgusting as I do- please contact the senator's office.

Who has any doubt that the DUmocrats and Al Queda are on the same side? The DUmocrats were up in arms about the "wire tapping" program because they were afraid their daily DNC talking point fax might be intercepted.
The DUmocrats are EXACTLY like the terrorist without the IED's.

What doed Durbin have to say about the "2" who were murdered by an Islamonazi American who had enlisted (Sgt. Akbar)?
Does he still blame President Bush for their deaths?

This guy is the sorryist Senator Illinois has ever had. If we re-elect him, then we are the sorryist of states.
Mr. "I support the troops but not the war" Dick Durbin. Useless.
To: dighton
Excellent:)
The way Durbin discusses the LIVES of our military- as though we're about to go over the 11,000 mark on the Dow..it just enrages me.

Done! See my email message below...
"As a constituent of yours I find it disgustingly gruesome that you are counting the days until the 2,500th American casualty by death in Iraq. It would appear that, instead of proudly supporting our patriots in uniform who are defending your right to be stupid, you are aligning yourself with the enemy, who also can't wait for that milestone to arrive.
You should be ashamed of yourself. You are NO patriot. You are an embarrassment to America."
I borrowed your terms of 'disgusting' and 'gruesome' as I couldn't think of any better words. Thanks!

Had an interesting Kiwanis Golden K breakfast this a.m. Our guest speaker was a young man who's just started a talk radio segment on our local station (the 1st one for that station). He's a former Army Captain who served in both Afghanistan and Iraq. He interviewed Durbin a week or so ago. He stated he doesn't like his politics but treated him with respect.
Being a young fellow with a new job/show, that would be the only way to go. I'm glad, however, I didn't hear the show. I'd have called in and let Durbin have it. I told the fellow so after breakfast. He laughed and said he understood.

You stated that Illinois swine perfectly, SE Mom...Dick Durbin is greasing the wheels of his publicity machine with the blood of our soldiers, and it must not be allowed to stand. I'd be removed bodily, if I were in the Senate right now.
