You named most of my faves. Love Edgar, Mark O Conner, Sam Bush, Bela, Alison, Skaggs

I can't believe I left out Bela Fleck. I play banjo and that guy is my all time favorite. Mark O'Conner is so good it's spooky......probably the greatest fiddle player of all time. The Ditzy Chicks aren't talented enough to even be his roadies....

And O'Connor was a very good guitar player before becoming renowned for his fiddle playing. He was good enough to play guitar in the Dave Grisman Quintet. And oh yeah, we forgot to mention Jerry Douglas. People with talent on the O'Connor/Jerry Douglas level are spooky. They are truly gifted. I've played guitar passionately for many years. There are some ppl that have a level of talent no amount of effort can attain.

Cowboy George has talent,
Boy George has sh!t.

He fit the 'mold' late 70's early 80's in England,
when there was a big push for a second english invasion (Beetles etc part of the first), of homo-techno pop culture music (if you want to call it that).

Sad post.

I go to europe usually once or twice a year.
My parents live in Ireland. These American Bush hating leftests really turn my stomach also. The European Media is so left wing it's hard to describe the bias.

He may have, I don't really know.
I think he's a happy house painter that loves singing.

I prefer bluegrass music. It's more genuine, less packaged, and everyone can seriously play. Gimme Alison Krauss any day of the week

Me too. Lately, I've been listening to Rhonda Vincent -- fantastic playing ability (mandolin normally) and voice and exquisite taste in choice of material. Her album Back Home Again is probably the most nearly perfect bluegrass album I've ever heard.

You sound like another cowboy George ????

Meanwhile I may meet him over the weekend, see if I get some interest or more details.

...Generally, the fastest way an artist can cut their income is to start spouting off about non-artistic subjects because they usually don't have a clue, and their blarney lifts the romanticized veil from the eyes of their audience.....

George Clooney, Alec Baldwin, Charlie Sheen (and the list is very long) should have taken your advice.
I mean look at their careers recently.

I love that song "Jolene." She sings it great and plays a good mando, too.

They have the freedom to say what they want.

With my money, I have the freedom to buy what I want.

I too have a vote-

I don't know if I'm a Cowboy George, but I sing, play, and write.

Yeah, I hear he's some kind of industry insider. Did he orchestrate the whole thing? I hear that's how she got the lead vox gig with the chicks, her father being connected.

But I wish that they and others would stick to what they are good at

Not much of a market for anything they are good at.

I hope Cowboy George is more talented than Boy George.

There was an A-Team episode in which Faceman was promoting a concert in a country music venue. He had intended to book Cowboy George and instead Boy George shows up. Murdock crossdresses as part of the plot. It was one of many badly written silly scripts for the wonderfully escapist and fun series.

"If I remember correctly, "If You Could Read My Mind" was among the Top 10."

- Lightfoot had a host of hits but many were sung by other artists. Peter, Paul and Mary did "In the Early Mornin' Rain", some Nashville guy made a hit out of "Ribbon of Darkness" and two songs you still hear a lot on FM stations are "Sundown" and "If You Could Read My Mind". One surprise hit, especially in the Northeast, was "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". It doesn't rhyme well, goes on forever, but is haunting in a weird way. My own personal favorite, which is hard to find, is a song called "In the Lee of Christian Island" which comes from a time when Lightfoot had his own boat and was passionate about sailing. The pace and rhythm of the song perfectly conveys a sailboat rocking gently in the waves. It's a real scotch sippin' song.
