FYI - More on CAP from discoverthenetwork.org:

"Persistent press leaks confirm that Hillary Clinton, and not Podesta, is ultimately in charge of CAP. 'It's the official Hillary Clinton think tank,' an inside source confided to Christian Bourge of United Press International. Robert Dreyfuss notes in The Nation, 'In looking at Podesta's center, there's no escaping the imprint of the Clintons. It's not completely wrong to see it as a shadow government, a kind of Clinton White-House-in-exile -- or a White House staff in readiness for President Hillary Clinton.' "

"Dreyfuss notes the abundance of Clintonites on the Center's staff, among them Clinton's national security speechwriter Robert Boorstin; Democratic Leadership Council staffer and former head of Clinton's National Economic Council Gene Sperling; former senior advisor to Clinton's Office of Management and Budget Matt Miller; and others."

The UN is completely corrupt and lacks any perspective for the individual. All that matters to the UN is where they can steal money and the wishes of the latest dictator.

Theft, is what the UN is about, plain and simple.

Well Mr. Brown, let's just look at what we middle-Americans know, shall we?

The UN, by allowing dictators and thugs to be treated as heads of state, legitimize the practice of thuggery and oppression in the world. In other words, they aid and abet the murder, torture, and persecution of millions of human beings around the world. This is a world governing body? For whom? Certainly not the people being unjustly oppressed!

I have thought long and hard about the UN. Because of the reasons above, it simply cannot be treated respectfully. Virtually all Americans are against oppression and persecution of people just because they have different political and religious beliefs. But this is happening even as I write and has only gotten worse since the end of WWII when the UN was formed. I'm not suggesting we go to war to stop such practices, but does it makes sense, from either an American conservative or liberal perspective, to treat a government of murdering thugs the same as we treat a government of duly elected representatives of a people? Yet that's just what the UN does. For the thugs, it gives them prestige and cover to justify their inhumane practices.

People here have thought it through. This kind of legitimized oppression is prevalent in more than half the world. Billions of people are held in bondage and can be slaughtered on a whim and this sorry state of affairs is sanctioned by the UN as it does nothing to stop such practices. It should be, if the UN was just, the number one crisis facing mankind on this planet today. But because the UN is made up of not the peoples of the world but the representatives of the illegitimate repressive governments of more than half the world they would not dare condemn their own actions.

Mr. Brown knows this, of course. It is the elephant standing in the room that no one will mention. It is the dark side of the UN that cannot be remedied in its current state. Note: The UN, as long as dictatorial governments make up most of its membership, will never work to stop the murder, torture, and repression of people around the world, as these governments would be attacking themselves and their own practices.

We know this at Free Republic. The UN must be disbanded in its current state and reformed among a coalition of free states committed to human rights. Until such time, the UN "Club of Thugs" will never change. The Oil for Food scandal, placing Libya and Iran on the Human Rights Commission, and the constant attacks against the United Stats and Israel will never abate on their own, but become more prevalent, more common, and more shrill. There is great danger for the free nations of the world to simply let this fester forever. Eventually, it will embolden the "Club of Thugs" to take out the thorn in their sides, which is our governments' of free peoples whose very existence serve to delegitimize their own.

Nope its not a secret. We just don't like what the UN does. If there are any lingering doubts look to Africa and all of the UN "successes" there.

Americans, the ones who pay their bills and taxes anyway, like to get something for their money. And since those are the Americans who fork over about 20% of the UN funding, it may be time to state the obvious - we're not getting anything for the money, except inclusion in an unaccountable organization of tyrants who only want to diminish American influence and power. Let China take over our funding and move the whole place to Shainghai. Up them!

"... it's an indictment of the entire nation, making us nothing more than an English-speaking variant of France..."

Bravo! Hear! Hear!

Right on, Ivan!

What really enrages me is the American idiots who equate all our British friends with your soccer hooligans. (When, in reality, I expect that you dislike them far more than we ever could...)

Thank you, FRiend, for being here -- and for speaking up!!

Good news, Kofi decides to back his Brit friend who insults his customers.

What a great opportunity for Bush and the Pubbies. Get on TV, show a clip of these statements and say that we are officially no longer funding the UN and have asked them to move their HQ to Mogadishu by 1/1/2007. The US has decided to form a new world organization to support freedom and self determination and only those countries who have that form of government need apply.

BTW, we need that office space in January, so make sure you start packing soon.

This would be a huge political coup, the left would go crazy ...... we can dream, can't we?

Well said.

I agree.

Kofi Annan and company believe in a one world government and I sincerely hope Americans and Great Briton never agree to it.

This British diplomat thinks middle Americans are not intelligent enough to comprehend the UNs plans.

Here is what passes for intelligence at the UN

"The Earth Charter Initiative was launched in 1994 by Maurice Strong, his newly formed Earth Council and Mikhail Gorbachev, acting in his capacity as president of Green Cross International. In 1997, the Earth Council and Green Cross International formed an Earth Charter Commission to give oversight to the process."

The UN and the cult of Gaia (in which I would include Al Gore) are all more intelligent and of course not as mean spirited as us everyday Joes./s

I would like to see Ambassador Bolton take them to the curb.

'Stop the sniping at the UN'

Stop steal food out of the Iraqi's mouths and giving the money to your son, and stop raping under-aged girls in the Ivory coast.

The sniping is well deserved.

Mr Malloch Brown told a conference in New York that "the prevailing [US] practice of seeking to use the UN almost by stealth as a diplomatic tool while failing to stand up for it against its domestic critics is simply not sustainable. You will lose the UN one way or another."

Ah, if only....
